^^^I consider my MINI to be a 2-seater. My passenger seat's all the way back -- no room for anyone behind (rarely does anyone sit in the back). I look at my MINI as one cool 2-seater

It looks like they extended the wheelbase. Yes it's still two doors, but the rear seating area looks roomier. I like the use of leather on the door panels. Very classic Italian design, It reminds me of the door trims of the Old Maserati's. The use of Wicker was a little over the top, but my Wife loved it. If it makes to the US I can see her asking for one.

Same here. Only once or twice has anyone been in my back seat.
That's the place my pizzas go.

In the classic Mini, the wagon version was known as the "Clubman Estate" or "Traveller". Very nice concept indeed, but I really want to see BMW pulling this one off on their own and offer a 5-door version of the current MINI wagon (R55?). The classic Clubman Estate had rear dutch doors instead of the conventional one piece hatchback as the current car. MINI should offer 2 variants of the wagon in 3 and 5 doors.
As soon as MINI announces the new wagon we will be putting our names down in the waiting list. Believe it or not there is a HUGE market for a MINI wagon variant and BMW would be fool to not bring this one to market quickly enough.
We REFUSE to move to a minivan or SUV when the children come and a 5-door MINI Wagon would fit the bill perfectly.
MINI/BMW, what are you waiting for????

Hmm... Doesn't look like the wheelbase changed at all. Just like they added a few inches to the boot. To be honest, I don't get it... :???:

I think it's only a wood and leather trim package. My Italian is only fair, but the brochure seemed to indicate that the MINIWAGON is "one half yesterday, and one half today" meaning it takes its design cues from the Austin MINI countryman from the 1960s. The "elongation" in the photo on Bridger seem to be a bit of an optical trick, and maybe an aftermarket bumper. Still for luxurious Italian leather, wood and the odd wicker effect, "HMMM, this IS a tasty burger".

Honestly, barf. Why would anyone want to pay for a MINI turned into a wagon? Newsflash: All wagons look like hell and are utility vehicles bought strictly out of necessity, hence the term wagon. A MINI wagon would be for the same suckers who would pay >$40K for a Mercedes or Volvo wagon. If I were forced to buy a wagon and had no means to cap myself in the head with a nine to avoid the sentence, I'd get the best value and not even consider how it looks, since a wagon cannot look good and is meant for little more than hauling one's odiferous, snot encrusted litter of papuliferoids from soccer practice to ballet.

If you watch the flash intro on the site, they did extend the back a couple of inches. Look at the hatch open shot of the flash intro. Looks like a good 6 inches has been added to the back.
I kinda like it. If I had more money than I knew what to do with, I know I would be emailing them for more info!

Obviously you have never heard of the Audi S4 Avant. So you could not possibly be interested in a vehicle with AWD, 6-spd manual transmission and a 4.2 litre V-8 powerplant producing some 340 bhp.

Exactly, because it's a station wagon and is therefore, by definition, unimpressive. If you buy that station wagon, the $47,340 joke is on you since for $46,340, you could have gotten an Audi S4 that isn't a hideous station wagon. I don't care what Audi puts under the hood of their station wagon, it's still just the Ingolstadt version of a Vista Cruiser.

I think its a great idea. My only gripe about the MINI is the lack of cargo room. I did buy it for it's performance, so I wouldnt want the extra weight, but I'm sure a lot of people will gladly accept the extra weight to get more space.

I completely disagree. Some wagons look good and some don't, just like cars. One of my all time favorite vehicles is the 55, 56 & 57 Chevy Nomad. The wagon shape actually enhanced the looks of the sedan, especially in the 57. My only negative about the MINI wagon is that the extra length makes it look a little more like an "ordinary" vehicle, albeit a very attractive one. To me at least, there are plenty of examples of European cars where the wagon actually looks better than the sedan version.

One of the most visually appealing features of the MINI is that the wheels are on the corners. The rear quarter, in particular, looks great specifically because the back end curves right down to the back of rear wheel. In fact, that goes a long way toward countering the fact that the MINI is basically already shaped like a miniature station wagon. So the elongation of the back end just completely ruins that effect and makes the MINI look as repugnant as any other station wagon--as if it had been designed by Ford.
If you need something in which to haul your spawn around, a MINI would be a bad choice anyway--even one misshapen into a station wagon.

As bad as you hate all station wagons I'm surprized you like the MINI at all, since it's "basically already shaped like a miniature station wagon", no manner where it's wheels are located.
