OK all you "mass" motorers, time to fire up those brain cells!

I realized recently that since I picked up Burnie last April I have spent a great deal of time in the company of other, similarly-obsessive MINIacs...be it rallying, motoring, drinking coffee, or just parking and drooling on each others newest mods.

It occured to me that what we need in these situations is a collective noun to describe our babies when they appear in groups. (For some examples of collective nouns--like a pride of lions or a gaggle of geese look here.)

When I brought this up at a recent MINI holiday gathering, one suggestion was "a mob of MINIs"...following a recent rally I drove in I thought of "a confusion of MINIs...

How about a Mass of MINIs? Then again, maybe that would only work in the Northeast. Maybe a Spectrum of MINIs?? Or even a Stumble of MINIs......nah that one might hack someone off.

Back to the game....next .

This is silly. First you name your minis... (totally senile)
Now you need to create a special term?

Try this, a BUNCH of mini's.

There, Problem solved, end of discussion.

>>So what I want to hear is what you--the highly intelligent, notoriously creative, genuinely clever and obviously tasteful--members of NAM can come up with.

Well, this part lets me out.

I will wait and vote unless you like "horde" which the Thesaurus said = crowd, mass, gang, group, pack, flock, or multitude.

I cheated and looked it up.

"Pod" has already been shamelessly co-opted by VW New Beetle owners.

OK the Public Grammar Korrector is chiming in now... ALL of the suggestions (pod? i luv it) so far are grand. HOWEVER.... in the interest of selling more Coopa's in the southern states, i recommend a "mess" of MINI's.

like the TV lawyer says "just CALL me, if you NEED me",
Tatt

How about MINI STAMPEDE!!!

According to American Heritage Dictionary, Stampede is "a sudden frenzied rush of panic-stricken animals or people." With the ponies from the MINIs and their race-bred drivers, we are both people and animals. In the case of MINI, the way most of us drive should qualify us as frenzied. Most of all, the sudden surge of ponies (hps) helps us to attack the panic-stricken corners. At the end, we feel the rush of adrenaline. Ahhhhhhh!!!

At first I would have thought a POD, because when you get them togetther everyone has a whale of a time but then thinking about the characteristics of the car and the desire of owners to congretate I thought a SWARM more appropriate.

I was going to suggest "a CHAIN of MINIs" since you always see them all neatly lined up. But then a SWARM of MINIs seems more appropriate (as suggested above)---they are swarming around town then all congregate for 'nectar' at the local pub!

I'm kind of partial to 'a Romp of MINIs'. Romp is used for a group of otters and otters are fun, playful, and always look like they're having a great time. What better association can you have?

West Coast,

it's fine that you're not into it, but you don't have to be so negative about others getting into it. If it's not your cup of tea then just leave it alone.

Wouldn't the latin of "many mini's" be 'minimotapi'. (I'm sure the spelling is way-off.)
