As I'm wont to say, it started out easy enough.

I didn't even know what a MINI Cooper looked like on the inside until this July, when I got to drive the 2003 IB/B Cooper S belonging to absentee and one-time MCO member Amy, better known around here as ames330. I was hooked, and three weeks later I put an order in on a British Racing Green/White 2004 Cooper S for myself. I joined the Can't Wait for November Club. I went to the CMMC Baseball Rally. I was part of the community.

Things change, and I decided that I needed to shuffle my financial priorities, so I cancelled the BRG MCS. Then, in a move unparalleled for sheer stupidity, I went out two months later and bought a 2004 Subaru Forester 2.5XT. The worst new car I've ever owned. You need to say it in the Paul Hogan voice to get the full impact, but "The World's First Sport-Utility Hairshirt!"

Me standing next to the four-door, four-cylinder, four-wheel-drive pain in the ****.

Well, I managed to beg, borrow, and steal the funds to cover the negative equity on the Forester, and on the 29th of December 2003 I traded it in on a Pepper White MCS with a black roof and bonnet stripes, lapis blue leather, and nearly every option available save navigation. Unbelievable as it seems, the car was in the showroom! No ordering and waiting for me!

A full gallery of pictures is available HERE, including freaking huge full-size images.

This is a sampling of pictures, though, of my new baby:

I'm one very happy boy right now, and it's not just on account of the New Year's champagne!

Excellent choice, I wish PW had been avaialable in '02, it's my favorite MINI color, don't drink too much cham-pagan (Futurama) so you can rise early and motor away the day.

Nice. Congrats on your MCS. I got my wife an 04 JB MC as a Xmas gift and her first car. I would like to post some pics but I don't know how to post it. I'll probably need some help on this if anyone can help. Thanks and awesome pics of your MCS.

What was wrong with the Forrester XT, you just bought it? You had your dealer friend that drove one too.
I remember your post.

Your MCS however looks great- lapis blue leather interior with H/K audio.
Now all you need is a JCW kit install. Nah just kidding.

Great pictures of one of the best looking MINIs I've seen.

Glad you were able to undo your Subaru boo-boo.

Happy New Year

yo. I'm still here lurking.

Great car Wes. Now all we need is a CR/W MCS to complete the IJ trio.

Happy Motoring.

Yay, I won the pool by predicting that you would trade in that Subaru for a MINI before New Year's, tee hee!

Congrats, I just love the Pepper White!

Thanks, everybody, for your kind words! I find myself looking forward to driving aimlessly, looking for some curvy backroad that doesn't get much traffic. It's the same kind of excitement that came from being 16, with a freshly minted license.

minihune - I really didn't get along with the Subaru. After a slipping clutch, bad engine mounts, and a transmission that would grind fifth unless double-clutched, all in less than 3000 miles

Don't I wish! I was thinking of naming the MCS "Casper", so I figured the background was somewhat appropriate.

Parklife,
Thanks for the info. After such a nice post before about how the Forrester looked so good I was curious but not all cars will fit their owners as well as we hope for.

Casper is a great MINI name and I too did notice the tombstones lurking around the bend.
The white MCS has a great look to it. Classic.

Sorry to say I am not too keen on Pepper White ...
But the combination of black with white, and your stunning photos, has made me think again - spectacular pics of a great car! Enjoy

Congrats - you may want to check out another PW named "Casper" on here. Great pics and the owner even made up some custom Friendly Ghost logos.

Happy New Year!
