We have just recently moved to Seattle and as most of you know it is always wet up here. I am having a problem with my feet slipping off the pedals all the time. I have a stick shift.

I thought about going to a skate shop and just purchasing some grip tape to put over the pedals.

Anyone have any better suggestions? Anyone else have this issue? My feet don't slip at all in our Volvo.

I am open to buying some new metal pedals but don't want to have a similar issue, that and most I have found are quite pricey.

 

Mine has been an rainy oregon car since day 1. Never really had any problem with slipping pedals. My first questioning thoughts were a) your shoes, and b) your seat position.

I would try grip tape before after market pedals, might be an easy fix!

I notice it too with certain shoes, they tend to slip when wet. It doesn't help that I'm a little bow-legged, and my foot hits the clutch at a bit of an angle. I was thinking about those aluminum pedal covers with the sharp edges around the holes...I forget who sells them here.

 

I'm also up in the PNW and used to have problems with the rubber pads on my vintage '75 VW Scirocco's clutch and brake pedals. I bought some Momo aluminum pedals that are heavily textured with nubs and rough patches: no more slipping problems, regardless of what shoes I wear.

Your comment is not nice and not helpful in any way. I have been a MINI owner and part of this forum since 2003. I know my car very well.

I made this post in hopes that I could get advice on this new issue for me. I have to wear shoes for work, and the weather, that are not the best for driving. Yeah, as you posted on another post similar to this issue that wet rubber shoes are gonna make loud squeaks against rubber pedals. Well, they do that and slip a bunch too. It's not as if it's feasible to put on a pair of Piloti's every time I need to drive, especially in heavy rain, ice or snow.

Now, if you have some expert advice and experience on a good set of aluminum pedals, or have had similar issues and tried grip tape with good results - let's here it. Otherwise, let's just keep it positive, please.

I am not complaining - just looking for needed advice.

 

i would check out some new pedals then.. something with a rough surface. depending on what pedals you have now (i have metal ones with rubber strips in them.. they are mini OEM) you could take some rough sandpaper and scuff up the surface a bit.. will remove any polished plastic and add a bit of grip.

i have the same problem and have been debating getting these, plus it makes the gas pedal a little wider, for easier heel toe.

 

I got a set of new metal pedals because i was having the same problem. With the metal pedals like the ones above, my feet do not slip at all and I think they look nicer than the oem pedals as well.

 

I found the stock pedals to be very sketchy. I switched to a full set of Hamman pedals and have never had a slipping issue. I also found them to be very good as far as heel and toe operation goes.

I have these and where dress shoes regularly, it's pouring in LA and no slipping issues. Plus I think they look cool.

 

Have a pair in the car you slip on just for driving. I can not where boots in either of my sports cars and some dress shoes. Some of the textured ones will scratch your shoes too. I have a pair of driving shoes that are very small and perfect for heel and toeing. Ultimate Pedals will make you anything you want. They made pedals and floor plates for my maserati. Will custom engrave them for you too. Great guys to work with.
