R50/53 What color looks the best??????
>>I'm going with a black Cooper S with a white roof and white wheels.... Nobody else fond of black?
I like the black.... esp. after seeing one. Only thing that kept me from black was upkeep. Black would be my third choice after the two silvers.

Allright,
As of now the only colors in the S you can get are the silver and elec. Blue. We are getting one of each. I am personally getting the silver w/ white top in less than two weeks and I so excited I cant even work. Just surfing for mini info! My father is getting the Electric Blue but the best Ive seen is indigo blue with matching top. Subtle yet Sharp.
Its gunna look great in my Garage next to my Tr6!

Well I guess I'll be the first to plug Indi Blue. This color looks great both in the shadows and direct light. But then again, I agree with wainair in that they're all pretty nice. For those who haven't seen the colors in person, I'd suggest you do so before making a decision, especially if you're relying on the miniusa color selector - which I don't think is very reflective of what the colors really look like. Photographs are great, but even this isn't a substitute for seeing the colors yourself. One good thing about Dark Silver and Electric Blue is that they won't be as common since they aren't available for the Cooper.
By the way, my Indi Blue choice is subject to change, as I've already changed 3 or 4 times over the past several months

I spent some time thinking about the color. I have a 1965 Bitish Racing Green /white roof Cooper S and wanted to get the same in the new one but the New BRG is not the right color. It is metallic for starters and the true color was a bit lighter also. When I had both cars next to eachother the colors were in no way simular. What do you guys think of it ??
I still liked the color but after quite some time deciding I went for Chilli Red Cooper S with the white roof and sunroof, racing stripes on the bonnet and 17 inch Xlite alloys. I get it out here is Australia in September and I cant wait !!

Hey CoooopeR, which wheels are you really going for, S spoke (as you mention in Forum: WRC) or Xlite (below), white or silver?
Where in Australia are you and which dealer? I'm in Melbourne ie. BMW Melbourne, they're saying end July for my Dark Silver 'S', body coloured roof (w/ sunroof) and 17" S-spoke wheels. See you on the road!

Hey Freek,
I am going for the 17" S spoke (silver) I wrote the others by mistake. I am actually from Geelong and went to BMW Melbourne but they were going to be a month later than Peck and Stokes in Geelong for the Red Cooper S.
Sounds a lot like we have got simular spec mini's. We are going to need to start up a New Mini Club !

No worries, I'm sure I'll be passing by Geelong quite often to go down the Great Ocean Road once I get delivery.
Strange that another dealership can get the car before BMW Melbourne since BMW Australia own the Melbourne dealership???

I can really appreciate the traditional british racing green which was my first color of choice, until I saw the green on a cooper in the sunlight and unless it is just in the right angle to the sun, it looks almost black, awfully dark. But what about velvet red? I have yet to see that color on any cooper or S except at the 'build your own', miniusa.com web site. I really like the color on the plastic examples at the dealerships, but has anyone actually seen a car with that color?
I haven't seen it in person but I have seen several pics on the web.
From what I've seen it looks like a nice color.
Also wanted to note that the Velvet Red is only available on the base Cooper.

Cooooper - I could swear the BRG example I saw at the Atlanta Auto Show last weekend was non-metallic. As to whether it was the "right" shade I don't know, I'm not an expert on that. But... there have been lots of different shades of "Ferarri red" over the years.
I will have to look that up and see.
First of all though BRG is not metallic and a lot lighter than the colour they have on the New Mini. I realsie there have been a lot of Ferrari Reds, as there have been a lot of BRG but they have until now been subtle changes.
I have seen a couple of MX5's driving around that have got a fantastic BRG or whatever they call it.
BMW will eventually make the proper colour, it may take a few years but I believe they will.

I'm going with electric blue on the S...I'm surprised no one else is going with it! It looks so great on the showroom floor. Has anyone seen one outside? I would like to know if it's as metallic looking outside...it was gorgeous! My husband wants it, too, so that's even better
zwoman, I saw several electric blue S's outside in SF and I must say, the color is stunning. It very much had the metallic thing going IMO. Not only will few MINIs be in this color, but I haven't seen too many cars in general having this color. Right now, I'm getting an Indi Blue Cooper, but when I trade up for the S early next year it's going to be a tough decision (I've narrowed it down to either Indi Blue, Electric Blue, or Dark Silver). You may have seen this already, but the May edition of Car magazine has a test drive of the Cooper S in Portugal AND it's Electric Blue! Great review as well.
Coooper - Both of my brochures say their BRG is metallic. Maybe my 47-year-old memory is just off. I kind of dismissed it as a color for me anyway as I already have a dark green metallic car and want something different for my next car. What we were really concentrating on and trying to get close to was the S (in dark silver) but there was a crowd around it and the line of people waiting to sit in it was long.
We got 2 brochures at this auto show. Interestingly, the color options in the two don't match, nor do they match those shown on MINIUSA's website. The smaller brochure shows solid gold and candy (light, but not "electric"
blue as color options but that's the only place I've seen them.

I got mine "S" in Electric blue and really it is metallic, on the sun it looks nice same on the shadow.
it have the 16' white wheels but I am going for the 17' on silver, will paint black the roof and
electric blue on the mirrors.
My friend got his "S" in dark gray with 17' silver and black roof, it looks nice but the paint did not shine
like the electric blue on the sun.
