Hey, had my MINI for a month now and its the most fun car I've owned since my Vette!(make that more fun than my Vette) Anyway since Nov 19 my MINI has undergone the following mods; complete removal of my back seat,Pilo intake,20% tint,XM radio, and frost sport stripes front to back. Most of my friends overlook all the mods and comment on the back seat removal. I removed the back seat to make the max room for my dogs, all four of them!I made a platform that has two hinged doors which gave me new storage in both the boot and rear seat wells. I added a little carpet and it looks like it was made with no back seat! SO.....my ? to you is what is the largest dog that you have had in your MINI and how many at once? Me ..... 3 out of 4 at once for a 20 mile cruise,Shepherd(80#s),Sarplaninitz(80# serb sheep guard dog) and my Kurst (another Yugo dog 90#s)My English Mastiff is not a fan of autos of any type

Not in total weight, but in single dog weight. My Neapolitan Mastiff is about 150 pounds and takes the occasional short trip with me.

I knew that someone would get me in the single dog weight .Does your Neo get in on his own or do you have to bribe him in?

Yes that platform sounds cool. I would like to see what you have done. My 95# Chesapeake Bay Retriever loves going for rides. He would probably love it even more if it was flat in back.

Whoa! Four 80# dogs in a MINI? You must be pulling a Houdini type of trick fititng them in. Get lots of window cleaner for those nose prints and lint rollers to remove dog hairs. I had only one 62 lb dog for a 2000 mile round trip to Canada, and no problems.

Lucas is about 150lb and he LOVES to ride in the MINI. The folks at the vet always laugh when he jumps in. I used to have 2 Saints and both would have easily fit in.

My MINI record so far is 1 Saint Bernard and 1 Westhighland Terrier. When I had my VW GTI, I carried 2 Saints, 1 German Shephard, and one mutt at the same time.

Yes, I will have to get another St. Bernard to beat your record, and if I am then outdone, I will borrow as many terriers as necessary to tip the scales!

I would love to see a pic of your fully dogged-out MINI!

Remember, big dogs in the back give added downforce without decreasing aerodynamic drag like a big spoiler would

I hate to screw this thread up but I've just got in from a few margueritas...

I once had a near 200 pound ***** in my back seat. But fortunately I sobered up in time.

Delete as needed.

I'll apologise in the morning..............

I removed my back seat and made a platform too. I used a piano hinge along the ledge where
the seat backs used to rest. The platform covers just the dip where the seat bottoms used
to be and opens by lifting up from the front. Dimensions are about 21" (front to back) by
about 36" (side to side), with suitable shapely cutouts to fit the sides. Used only existing
fasteners, no cutting or drilling required, and it can be returned fully to OEM condition
(modulo the dog hair of course). Room underneath for the jack, jumper cables, toolkit etc..
Improves the song from the exhaust inside the cabin too.

We've got 6 black German Shepherds (3 generations), but never had more than one of them
in the MINI at a time. Six 40lb bags of horse grain fit no problem, can't even see them in
the rearview mirror.

I'll try to get some pix...

I only have 5 dogs at the moment but I have had two 110# Bouvier des Flanders and a 70# Texas Healer with room for my 12# Bichon in the MINI at once - The GSP had to stay at home!

I guess I am a lite weight, have had the 3 English Bulldogs, Beau, Max and Winston in the car, guess I should call them B.M.W. As for the weight they are 62, 77 and 67 respectively. How does that add up. Each of them have their own window and every now and then they play musical chairs and one gets to ride up front with me, I know not safe but who are you to challange and drooling Bully.

110 lb golden retriever. he rides in the car everyday back and forth to work and other places. he doesn't need to be tricked or fooled into the car either. he sits at the drivers door waiting for me to open it (he'd do it himself if he could) then jumps into the backseat as soon as i fold the drivers seat down. then he pretty much waits in anticipation for the car to start moving. it's usually more work getting him to get out of the car, he puts up a small fight and unfortunately he loses every time!

Hi all. Interesting post I was considering buying a mini and found this website. Converting from an A4 which I love, it will be a tough decision. One of my curiousities was how my dogs would fit in a mini Two one-hundred pounders, sounds like it wouldnt be a prob. I would be curious how the back looks without the seat and how you guys finished it off. Any pics yet? That would definately be the first thing I would do, no need for a back seat for me. Thanks and cool site.

Do a search for other rear seat threads. There's been a couple posted complete with how-to's and pics.
