R50/53 Has anyone in the U.S. ordered the wood dash on their MINI?

I saw a picture of a MINI with the wood (plastic) dash trim and I really like it. (I know I'm in the minority here.) The problem is that my dealer knows nothing about it and when I called MINI they didn't know anything about it either. Has anyone in the U.S. ordered their MINI with the wood dash trim, and if so, do you know what the production code is for this option? Thanks in advance.

It's not available in the states, and I think it was only available for a short while overseas when it was an option... so unless you go aftermarket, no wood...

There is a photo on MINI2 that shows a car (left-hand drive) on the factory production line with wood trim. The person who posted it claims the photo was taken on Sept. 29. That's why I'm so curious.

Hummmmm....now you've got me looking out at my car (I can see it in the parking lot from my office window  ) trying to imagine it with wood side trim ala a Country Squire wagon circa 1975. While probably not from the factory, I'm sure someone will try that eventually. Arrrgggggghhhh. This post is beginning to meld in my mind with the "fun details" thread.

Thanks to the configurator.

Probably not available in the USA. Also note the optional gear shift and parking brake trim.

You know, that would look really nice with a BRG Cooper with the black and tan interior, no?

Someone posted a rather intresting observation about that kit.. parts seem to be missing... but I'd really have to see an install before I could make up my mind...

I agree, it WOULD look very nice with a BRG, as well as Pepper White! I think the OEM wood was going to be offered in Canada...not sure.

Cheers!

I don't think I'd do the wood, but the yellow carbon fibre has possibilities for my liquid yellow MCS. How big a job is the installation? Is it something I could do myself in a day or 2, or is it something I need to take to a pro?

Also, in that installed pic, it looked like the glovebox was not swapped. Is that the case?

What companies are planing a molded carbon dash? I am aware of the stick on type, but clearly the molded would look much better.

The factory wood dash design is an option and was kind of rare to see.

You can still get it.

There is the 5 piece dash for pre 7/2004

Wood Interior Trim Kit - Dash 5 Piece

Factory photo.

And the 3 piece dash for post 7/2004

Wood Interior Trim Kit - Dash 3 Piece

Like this but of course LHD. Below is a RHD version 3 piece.

Thanks
