Well, I did my first test drive today, and I must say that I am really impressed with this car. I drove a regular Cooper with the CVT. It was also the first time that I have seen one in person. They are bigger than I thought, and I felt that there was ample back seat room, much more than my firebird at least. The car drove great, seemed to be a little underpowered, but that's why I am going to get an S! I am putting one together right now so that I can place my order, and I get it at MSRP . The car was even better than I imagined it would be, and I thought that it would be pretty great anyway. Plus he said that I could order it with the Flag on the roof, so I am getting the stars and Stripes on the roof too!

I am so excited, but I don't know if I'll be able to wait 9 months, it might drive me crazy!

 

I am glad you are as impressed as what seams all of us ! I have taken a cooper for a spin when they first come out here to Aus and was overly impressed with the overall refinement of the car.

I have ordered the 'S' and are looking forward to taking the demo for a spin on the weekend as they are getting it in then.

I get to test drive the S on June 7th in the UK, I ordered mine last July! a provisional date of mid August.
Like the guys above I've been really impressed with the cooper..can't wait for the S

 

I just got back from my hour long test drive of the Cooper S and I have to say I am very impressed. The car has only done 400 Km so it was a little tight still but it will accalerate in any gear at basically any rev range. I have taken a WRX for a drive and although it may be marginally quicker it does not have the quality and overall feel that the 's' has. The overtaking speed is great, by the time I got past the car doing about 90Km/h and looked down I was doing 150 !

My salesman is fantastic, I know there are not many of you here in Geelong, Australia but if you are close (The USA isnt that far away is it ??!!)I recomend you go there. He is going to call me when it has done another thousand Km or so and arrange another test for me becasue it will go even better when run in. Not bad service for somone who has already ordered the car months ago. I have to wait until September still to get it and I am counting the seconds.
