I just read over at Gabe's site that starting with Jan 1 builds the MCS price is increasing $450. No new features or options are included in that price. Oh well, I guess it's bound to happen. Kind of a bummer for us who are saving up for one though

the increase seems to be inline with BMW's past history. Nothing to surprising about it.

I'm glad that I ordered mine to be built in Dec. 03. I can surely use the $450 for other mods.

I'm not suprised. The new 5 series cars got a 8% increase across the board.

From 2002 to the 2003 model year, the MSRP price increase was $125 and it was mainly because to cover the costs of the second remote key, which became std in '03. The prices remained the same throught the entire model year.

From '03 to first production run '04, the prices increased modestly which to me was kinda surprising because the '04s had the rear boot power socket again (Included in the '02s but missing from the '03s), and some significant revisions to suspension, interior materials, etc.

I think the "real" price increase was delayed for some reason but was bound to happen. I am glad I got mine almost 2 months ago..the car has been rock solid!

$450 buys you metallic paint, HK stereo (Almost), DSC, Xenons, etc so it is a significant price increase, IMO.
