Where do you buy maintenance parts?

Hello!

I need to do "inspection2" (way passed) and was wondering where do mini "experts" shop.

I guess I'll need the tensioner tool as well.

Thanks

Dan

I'm no expert but I bought most of my filters from partsgeek.com.

Car owners need to replace their tires a few times over the life of a typical vehicle. Despite advances in longer-lasting tires, actual tread life will vary by car type, tire type (such as all-season or high-performance), driving aggressiveness, and even road and weather conditions. Consumer Reports provides in-depth tire test Ratings of more than 16 major brands of replacement tires sold nationally. Look for tires that do well in our tests for braking, handling, and resistance to hydroplaning. If you're looking for information about car tires, truck tires or winter tires, Consumer Reports is your best resource. Use our tire buying guide to learn about the tire types and the tire features that are most important to consider. We also provide Ratings and recommendations for the best all-season tires, all-terrain tires, performance tires, and ultra-performance tires.

I buy oil filters and fuel filters from the dealer. BMW coolant too. I get my brake fluid, Motul RBF 600, online from LTB Motorsports. My transmission fluid, Redline MTL from Speedway Motors - their main joint is local. I also got my Aeroquip hose, fittings, and tools from them. My oil is Amsoil, and that comes from online somewhere.

Other maintenance items... I got a clutch and a wheel bearing from the dealer too. Cabin filter was from some online store, maybe Moss or M.Mania. I've gotten drive belts from all local autopart stores, but the past few I've gotten Gates belts from O'Reilly. There have been several other parts I've forgotten, such as the rear latch mechanism and other things. I got all of that from the dealer.

I don't mind buying from the dealer, because sometimes having the part right now is important to me. I'd also like them to stay in business so that I can get parts, and so that BMW will keep making parts.

I've ordered OEM parts from minicarparts.net and allminiparts.com. I prefer minicarparts.net, only because they are within a 1 day ground shipping distance.

For the tensioner tool, I just picked up a beefed up one on ebay for $65.

I just ordered a cabin filter and some oil filters from RockAuto.com

I had several choices of brands and prices. Paper filter or charcoal activated. They are only 120 miles away and UPS ground gets me stuff the next day.

I've actually ordered some axles for my old car from them. FAST shipping and good prices.

amazon

Go to amazon.com I bought most of my parts there and when you compare them to other sites, it is actually cheaper to buy at amazon rather than the others. I never had to pay for any shipping for all this stuff I bought online. Just make sure do a search elsewhere to verify the parts you get. Here is a list of parts I bought at amazon. Another good place to go is autopartswarehouse, that also has free shipping

ATE front and rear rotors
Ceramic Brake pads
MSD Ignition wires,
Mann fuel, oil and cabin filters
Redline MTL for 9.95 a bottle

All of this came with free shipping as long as amazon carries it.

Here's a small list of aftermarket parts sources I've collected that may help.

This list was posted a while ago.. but I gotta say. AWESOME! Thats a pretty solid list of vendors for almost anything you could ever need for your MINI. Thanks for posting, and even greater thanks if you took the time to compile that long list.

Check with http://mini.sewellparts.com and talk to Mike Levey. They are very helpful and flexible. They give discount to NAM members, remember to register on their web site first in order to receive the discount.
