Miniusa.com owners' lounge status for my MC says its in transit with estimated delivery date 1/21/04 (today)?

What does that mean? It's going to be off-loaded from boat today?

My dealer is in VA. How long it takes after that?

Thanks.

It might be a bit longer...The Owners Lounge is a little late...But...As I was driving home tonight after meeting with some friends, my wife and I decided to stroll past the MINI dealership to see if any new cars had come in....I saw one that looked like ours! It was inside of a locked fence but we were close enough to read the VIN off the window sticker! IT WAS OURS!!! Luckly we had our digital camera with us. We got a couple spy photos through the fence!!! Hopefully we'll be able to pick it up in the next couple days. Not quite sure when. Anyway...When I can get the pics uploaded, I will put some up!!!

Dave, I pick mine up at 9:30 tomorrow. Pin stripes are done as of today.

Too bad we are having a cold spell this weekend,so I can't start to install all the stuff I have hanging around the house.

Cheers,

JD

I called the dealership yesterday to see what was up & they called back today to say that the weather is apparently wreaking havoc on the cars at the NJ distribution center so that they are only processing about 200 cars every day instead of the usual 500. They couldn't give me any idea when mine might make it through. So I guess it's just been sitting there encased in ice & snow in the freezing weather since it got off the ship twelve days ago. Bummer. :???: :???: :???:

early_apex's wife here...

mike should be landing in Cleveland, OH at any moment now. Julie, our SA, will be picking him up at the airport and taking him to the dealership to pick up our car even tho it will be at least 10pm... now THAT is service for you!

depending on how he feels (and I imagine that having flown first-class he'll be feeling just fine) he'll be getting on the road back home tonight. Wish him well on his trip, I'll be scouting the weather for him, and hopefully it will be a smooth trip back.

I'll post updates on his trip if anyone is interested, but for now I need to go have some wine to settle my worried nerves!

You must be very excited. I remember that I couldn't sleep the night before I picked up the car due to all the excitement.

Hey Dave... Mike was heading due west on I-80 I believe... I just talked to him and he's almost to Kansas. He's planning on getting a hotel tonight. I'll warn him about the sand/gravel issue... dammage before I even see her would suck.

He should be back to the Portland Metro area some time on Sunday... but knowing how he drives it could be sooner than that.

>>To avoid the Rocky's, I actually drove south, across I-40, and back up on I-5. My car was totally ok until I reached Portland, where there's still a lot of snow on the ground. Now, I have a bull's eye in my lower right windshield.

Hey Dave it looks like I-40 ends at Salt Lake City, where did you go from there? And where did you get on 40? It looks like it starts near Denver... do I need a new map?

Actually, I-40 is further south that crosses OK, TX, NM, AZ, and ends in CA, where I hitched onto I-5 North. That way I totally avoided the mountains. This route, however, will add more mileage to your new MINI. On the other hand, it minimizes the chance of getting pounded by the ferocious gravels. I recently had to replace the windshield on one of my other cars due to the cracked windshield caused by a flying rock from the icy roads.

If Mike is heading toward KS, he's probably taking I-70 that crosses KS and CO.

My advice is to stay as far back as possible from the car ahead of you. Another word, don't tailgate, especially behind those 18 wheelers.

Ah... well, since he's already in Topeka, I suppose it's a little late for that route. Oh well.

Mike is very good about not tailgating tho so hopefully any dammage from the sand will be minimal.

He does report tho that the mini handled all the snow in Ohio beautifully.

Sigh... I just wish he were HOME already.

*wanders off to worry some more*

I was wrong.

With reports of packed snow and chaines required in I-84 from the Oregon Border west Mike has taken a detour (of about 1000 miles) in denver and is headed south on I-25 to Santa Fe, New Mexico and will be picking up I-40 from there.

So another day has been added to the drive... but he's calling fairly frequently, so I'm doing ok.

The mini seems to be handling the journey well... so far...

Sunday night or Monday mid day is the ETA... for now.

IT'S HERE!!! I finally picked my MINI up from the dealer yesterday!! It is amazing, and well worthe the wait. My wife and I finally decided a name for it. We named it "Cash", after the late Johnny Cash. It's black, and we're in Nashville, TN so it seemed quite fitting. I can't wait to get some good pics to share!! I think that one of my favorite features is a actually the -MFSW-. I figured it be a nice convience, but I actually think it's pretty fun to use. So many other things as well, but much too many to list!! Happy waiting to those not yet united with their baby, and Congradulations to everyone that received thirs so far!!

Congrats, Mike! How was the drive? Did you take I-70 or I-80?

Hey, everybody! I hate to say it, but I'm not sure now whether I'll actually make the cut for the "January" Club or not. My MINI was off-loaded in NY on the 10th, but since then it seems like it has taken forever to get thru the processing center. I still haven't received "The Call" from the dealership saying it has arrived at MINI of Pittsburgh. So anyway, if I don't take delivery by this Saturday I can't believe I'll have actually been bumped to the "February" Club.

Hey Pipes, I would stop by the dealership. Mine just happened to show up at my dealership . I just happened to be there to ask my MA a question when she informed me that it was there. Just hang in there, the time will come. It is well worth the wait.

I just picked up mine on Fridsy! Man what a blast. I is just too hard to keep it under 4500 RPM. To everyone that has picked up their MINIs, congrats and motor on!! To everyone who is still waiting, be patient, the day will eventually get here.

Cheers,

JD

For anyone that is interested, I posted a seriously long write up of the drive from Classic MINI in Ohio to our house in Washington. My apologies for the length.

Pictures will follow soon.

Here are some pics of our car at Classic when I took delivery. Does anyone here belong to the silver MCS in the background?

That looks like the same parking lot with all the snows when I left Classic MINI.
