R50/53 used MCS pricing...are they really worth that much used?
been looking at some used MCS i noted ppl with "high" miles (5000 an over) are still asking $1,000 below MSRP. Are the MCS that hard to purchase still? Or am i just looking in all the wrong places?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I recall seeing an article by the people who try and figure out how much your car should be worth after X number of years... the MCS has one of the highest value retention rates currently on the market. Apparently, after 6 years we should still be able to recoup about 50% of the value of the vehicle.
So, yeah. They're "worth" it because that's what people are willing to pay for them. Have you tried the Marketplace forum here? Ebay? I don't know that you'd necessarily get a better deal, but more places to look, anyway.

As long as people are paying MSRP (or sometimes even more) and waiting two or more months to receive their cars, people will be asking MSRP +/- 10% for low-mileage used MC(S)s. Also, buying used saves you on sales tax, which can easily run into the thousands in most locales...
for MINI's in the Sacramento area (only 1 dealer) are charging around about the same for a new vs used... aprx 24,000-28,000. I assume that it is for those who cannot wait for a new mcs. As for regular MINI's Im not so sure the prices... I dont think that I can entertain the idea of a regular MINI... or at least in comparision to the S..... gotta love it.

My dealership has had 4 coopers traded in recently, and in each one they paid approx. $600 below MSRP on each one. Now if someone would be so kind as to trade in one with a nice ALTA intake, so I can swap out, that would suit me fine!

i can't believe that's how much they paid, think about it that means they are only making $600 at most on the used sale, it is not even worth the time. Also w/ tax savings they would have given the previous owners more MSRP on the car!!!

People really are getting pretty much whatever they want for them.I got mine cheap, private sale. But I was very lucky.I found it on autotrader about an hour after it went online, and was the second person of about a hundred to call. The first guy was in seattle, and actually offered another 2 grand for the car(which was in CT), but I did the paperwork directly through bmw which made the deal way easier for the previous owner.I signed a few papers and drove it home.Thank you autotrader and good credit. Sold my bmw and 20 minutes later was processing paperwork to buy my mini for 4 grand under the going price.

its only because the MINIs are hot items right now.....and to the guy that said the MINI will still bring 50% of its value 6 years from now.....i seriously doubt that man.
Im a usd car dealer fro a living....we will see...you migth be right but it would be a first in history.....maybe...maybe a 6 yr old mini with extremely low miles.....but then i seriously doubt it.

It all boils down to supply and demand. Some areas have really long wait times for new MINIs so there the lure of a good quality used MINI is greater so prices will be higher not to mention if the local dealers all markup the new ones by $thousands.
If you go to an area with many MINIs for sale and no wait (few weeks) at the dealership then the prices will be very soft but you will need to hunt around.
In urban areas the demand is a bit greater- the MINI is a great little car. I would think that in all of California it would be pretty tough to find new MINIs.
Good hunting.

Well, tell that to ALG (American Leasing Guide). Most residual value calculations have been made based on cars in good to excellent condition not driven more than 15K miles per year.
