JCW style aero grill on bumper install

I bought a JCW style black grill (2 piece kit - top and bottom) for my 05 MCS.

I was able to install the grill to the bonnet.

Do I have to remove the bumper cover to install the other grill?

Is there an easier way of removing the chrome grill from the bumper without taking the whole bumper cover out?

The chrome piece in the bumper just pops off and can be removed without removing the bumper.
Take note on how thin the chrome piece is...the new aero grill piece will have to be close to that thickness to fit right.
You will also have to remove the "shelf" that the grille slat is double-sided taped to, and you will have to modify the slots in the bumper to fit the aero grille tabs.

Aero Grill Install

I've got a good set of instructions for this saved as a pdf .... p.m. me with an e-mail that accepts attachments (5.4 mb) and it's yours

I've done a half dozen of these for folks.

You don't 'have to' take off the lower bumber but I do ... it gives you some options when working down there. As stated the lower piece you are trying to remove is held on with double sided tape.....STRONG tape. The temptation to pry from the front can lead to booboos. By taking the bumber off and putting it on a padded surface - a folded up blanket works well - you can work from the rear getting the piece off - pressing from behind. I use a strong hair dryer or a heat gun to warm the backside softening the glue and then press against the back of the piece. If I slip I scratch the back....not the face.

Don't sweat taking the bumber cover off - it isn't difficult and the DIY I have (not mine but I can't find the post anymore and I saved the file some time back) includes taking the cover off.

If you don't have a Dremel tool - preferably a variable speed one - get one b4 you try the lower grill replacement. You could do without ... but it will take MUCH MUCH longer.

Or bring the car over and I can do this in a couple of hours....

I managed to pull the lower bumper chrome pieces off, without breaking anything and without removing the bumper cover.

I do have a variable dremel.... I'd make my attempt after reading Capt BJ's instruction...
