hesitation on revving up from idle

I have 2005 MCS, convertible, 35k miles, with Borla exhaust and Promini CAI, and 15% pulley.

When you pulse the gas pedal (Press down the gas pedal quickly) from idle, the car hesitates to rev up. It feels almost as if it's about to stall.

If I press gas pedal slowly, then it revs up nicely.

all my other cars (Honda accords and odyssey) the throttle response from idle is immediate. With my MINI, you have to press gas pedal slowly. If you pump it too quick, it almost stalls the engine.

What is going on? any insights?

This happens when the motor is cold or hot?

That happens to my MINI whether it's hot or cold. It's probably the by pass valve (yoyo effect).

Minis have a drive-by-wire throttle, which can give a less than prompt throttle response.
Plus a fairly heavy flywheel.

My car had this, but not to that degree. As part of my RMW tune, the throttle map was altered to give better response. It seems that the drive-by-wire system had a bit of lag engineered into it. However, at times it still is a bit laggy, usually when it is hot and muggy out.

i think hes talking about a severe drop in revs to where it will stall unless you get back on the clutch quick! i think its a symptom because my car had that issue for a time and i drive like he does- where you barely need to gas it to get the car going from a stop but this symptom just drops the revs while doing this... yeah it was very annoying especially you got girls looking and it almost stalls . the best remedy i found was just hold the gas a bit longer... but reflash from the dealer to the newest software or a tune can fix it.
