noise from strut tower

Hello all from a newbie~
I have 04 MC and looking for some help.
I hear squeaky noise (like rubber rubbing against metal) on the passenger side every time I turn the steering wheel whether car is moving or not, and it is coming from strut tower. I can even feel rubbing if I put my hand on top of the tower.

Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestion?
Lubrication might do it but looks like I have to remove the strut assembly to get to it(?) If so, is here anyone who can give me 'do-it-yourself' instruction on how to remove so I can get to the part that is rubbing?
Is it even possible for non-mechanic to do this? One of my friend suggested that I take it to mechanic because of the Spring which required special tool.

thanks in advance for all your inputs.

Sounds like a worn out or failed upper strut mount.

upper strut mount? then I do have to take the whole assembly apart...

Is it something I can do myself or better take it to mechanic?
Could there be an instruction on how to do this that someone can point me to?

Thanks for all your help~

It's the same procedure as changing springs - you remove the strut assembly and replace the upper mount:

I've done mine several times - it's not very hard, if you're mechanically inclined, have the right tools, and if everything cooperates.

you will need a tool to push the springs on the struts.
If you have a tool, it is very easy.
