Hi

Brought a 2005 Cooperwith about 59,000 miles about 50 days ago. Had it checked by private mechanic and said it was a great deal but would need battery sooner then later. It was a real good price so I went for it.
Now Service Engine Light is on and I had Auto Zone do scan and code P0138 came up. Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 001 Sensor 2.
Can a bad battery cause this? Car is running fine although mileage is not as good as I expected.
Also do you think the dealers 90 day warranty I got would cover this? It was an Acura dealer's used car department.

No, a bad battery will not cause that.

Most likely a bad sensor. The other possibility is a short or a broken wire on the sensor or the harness. Check for chaffed wiring before replacing the sensor. It runs $250.

 

Have your dealer replace the O2 sensor, you should still be covered with a 2008
