Emissions warranty extended on 2004-2006 MINI's

Just got a letter from MINI today stating that "due to a potential problem that could affect the durability of the oxygen sensors on certain MY 2004-2006 MINI automobiles, the emissions warranty for the Oxygen Sensor will be extended to 10 years or 100,000 miles."

Ack! I just called the dealer last week and was told the O2 sensor wasn't covered, and subsequently ordered a new sensor online for my '05 Cooper S over the weekend. Still, I guess it's good news.

Just had one of my 02 sensors replaced under original warranty a couple weeks ago.

Oxygen Sensors Warranty Extension

I just got my letter from Mini this morning confirming the extension of the warranty for Oxygen Sensors.

My car is an April 2006 build if that matters.

Hope this helps...

I wonder if that's related to the recall of O2 sensors in 07s.

Got the letter today...

I replaced the front O2 sensor about 6mo ago because it was faulty and throwing a code (at my cost). Think the dealer would reimburse the cost?

My 06 S is at the dealership today because the SES light came on (after it was in the shop last week to replace the crank pulley, battery, power steering pump and engine mount -- but that is another story). Service Advisor sent an email stating the pre-cat O2 sensors had low voltage and needed to be replaced. She quoted me something in the neighborhood of $450. Why wouldn't this be covered by the warranty extension? And, if it is, why wouldn't she know about it and automatically cover it?

My MINI has just over 50,000 miles, so I am a little concerned about all the issues happening all of the sudden. I called back and left a voice mail asking about the warranty extension. I bought the car used in July 2009, so I never got the letter, but I would think I am covered anyway. Can't wait to see what she says in the morning.

Got a call back from the SA this morning saying she had "checked into it" and yes, it is covered. I guess the lesson from this story is that all SA's are not up to date on their own policies and we have to be the ones that make sure we don't get ripped off. I think I've seen that as a recurring theme through the years....

Just wanted to let everyone one know that Mini replaced the O2 sensor on my wife's 05 MCS today. I did call the 866-ask-mini # if my VIN was covered. They said yes. We did not have any really obvious symptoms, but it was throwing P0030 errors, causing the check engine light to come on. I have 75,500 miles, and are the original owner.
