2006 S with 75k miles

I am looking at a very nice looking used Mini Cooper S. Its a 2006 with 75k miles. The high miles worries me a little, but its looks great. Anything to be concerned about?

Just know that you wil be replacing the supercharger somewhere down the line, and the clutch too (unless its been done already)

I'm still on my original clutch, and replaced my supercharger at 191,000 miles. Currently just over 206,000.

Good luck.

Nik

I'm at 60K on my 2006 without any issues. A 2006 with 75K should be fine. IMO a 05 or 06 are the best out there. As with any used car service records are gold. Check them & see if the services have been done. If it has been serviced by the book it should be fine. Many MINI owners even service more often than the book calls for. If you don't know your way around cars you might want to take the car to a mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection. It is money well spent.

Welcome to NAM.

2003 MCS with 65k miles. No major issues. Only thing so far has been front lower control arms replaced under warranty.

My 06 is at 65k and I'm the second owner. No issues so far (knock on wood) but it was well cared for. Just get it checked out by a mechanic that is familiar with Mini's and you should be fine if it passes that inspection.

Thanks guys, its tough to find a nice condition S for under 14k. Especially an 05/06 which I have heard good things about.

I bought an '06 S JCW convertible about 4 months ago, with about 66K miles on it -- now up to about 71K. I was a little leery because of the high mileage, and also because of the price: I paid $15.5K, which was about $9K - $10K less than similar cars I saw in online ads (not that it's that easy to find "comparables" when looking for a JCW!).

On the other hand, the guy I bought it from (original owner) had maintained it beautifully; it looked like a new car. Before buying I took it to the dealership where it had been maintained, and spoke with the service manager. For privacy reasons (or so she said) the service manager would not tell me anything specific that had been done on the car, but she did tell me that it had been regularly serviced and had never had a problem. After that, and after driving the car, I felt very confident, and in the time I have had it there have been zero problems.

This is one great car, particularly for zooming along canyon roads (as in: where I live in southern Cal.)

Look for Mushroomed Strut Towers. My 04 MCS had this issue when I bought it with 65k miles.

Even if you don't already have the issue, you should slap a M7 Strut Brace on there to prevent it happening in the future.

No major problems besides having to rebuild the axles ( my fault ) and changing the clutch.

Is it an Auto or Manual? When those CVT Autos break down, it's a lot of money to replace.

Just keep in mind your looking at a car that's driven 25K miles a year up to this point.

Yes, keep that in mind.
I would take it to a mechanic to make sure everything is working fine.

I got my '05 MCS few months ago at 50k miles and is now actually close to 60k I don't know how I drove that much in 4 months, but I've had no problems.

Your comment doesn't apply as the OP is looking at an '06 MCS. The MCSa has a 6-speed Aisin automatic, NOT the CVT. The CVT was only in the MC. The Aisin is a solid transmission.

Well... My MCS has 26k on it, but has been driven by a teenager for the last 10k, has been Autocrossed a bunch and driven hard! If that 75k is all highway or something I wouldnt worry about the mileage at all, I would probably take that over mine (assuming all highway).
