Cracked fog light lens

Hey all, my fog light lens (the one down low on the bumper) has a cracked lens. Not sure if a) can i just get a lens or b) do i have to replace the whole thing. so, whichever way, does anyone have a pdf or link as to how to remove and replace (heard its the bumper cover that needs to come off, not sure if the case and if so how to do it) as well as a place to buy a replacement part?

Bumper cover removal is easy...

There are two torx screws at the top of the cover, two 8mm nuts you get to via the wheel well liner, and about 5 (I think) nuts or phillips that you get to via the front lower lip of the bumper cover. As you remove the cover, you'll unplug the lights that are attached to the cover.

The fog light is sealed, so you'll be getting a new one. They're pretty exposed down there, and you'll find that the side you don't replace has pitted/scratched glass. Maybe some detailers clay will clean it up a bit, but they won't match exactly. If you've got the money, think of replacing both.

Also check the marketplace for take offs. Some sell there because the brake duct kit replaces the fog lights.

And there's a vendor that sells replacement light assy's. Don't know much about them, but saw them in the marketplace.

Sadly, yes you're going to need to replace the whole light unit. Mine still works but the lens has a rock hole in it.

I've been searching NAM and Ebay for a replacement. Nothings been posted over the last couple of months so I decided I'll be ordering OEM this week.

You really don't need to take the whole front bumber off. Just the liner in the wheel well should provide you enough room to take off and replace. Another NAM'er and I did the retro like the link posted to my MINI 18 months ago.

you can find the MINI factory accessory (and many others) install instructions such as the link provided above on the MiniMania site.
http://new.minimania.com/_A_Installa...structions.cfm

The fogs are accessed thru the wheel well as posted, according to the Haynes:

1. remove wheel arch liner
2. disconnect wiring plug
3. remove 3 screws
4. refitting is a reversal of removal procedure

To replace the turn signal assmbly u need to pull the bumper cover

B4 you look outside the box for a replacement you may want to at least check the dealer cost. When I needed a turn signal assmbly for the same reason I was plsntly surprized by the low cost I could get away with thru the dealer ..... and they had the part on the shelf. Fixed it the same day.

(btw - 2002 to 2008 owners manuals are on the MM page too ....)

Not hard to replace - replaced both of mine yesterday as they were opaque from road rash.

Bought them off USA ebay vendor last week, they were 39 dollars each. Vendor is still on with lots more too. They come with OEM German bulbs too. Arrived in 3 days.

I had to jack up the MINI and put it on stands with chocked rear tire. Dismount front tire/rim. Each front part of the wheel panel is secured with one phillips head screw at the top, and you only have to remove 4 plugs up front. Then just carefull peel the panel back making sure to clear the brakes lines w/o pulling on those.

The back of the OEM housing is secured with ( If I remember correctly on size ) three 5/16" bolt screws. Removed those and the light assembly comes right out. Unplug old assembly, plug new one in. And remount.

If the other one has a lot of road rash may as well replace them both at this point. And if you want to upgrad the lighting - like PIAA or Hella bulbs, now is a good time to do that too.

Ebaymotors often has the BMW maintenance manual TIS for sale. I bought one for about $12.00.
