First pic of first mods since purchase (10 days ago) Few questions...

you can see my blacked out headlight rings and beltliner.
i also plast-dipped, or plasti-sprayed rather, my gas cap.
door handles and grill are next, then the side repeaters.
few questions:
1. side repeaters- how do i get the s off? it seems like it would come off, but i feel like it will break.
2. mileage- is it store in the cluster or in the ecu. i want to modify my center cluster, but i'm afraid to f- with the mileage of the car and have to deal with odometer fraud. my s2000 stored it on the cluster, not the ecu. trying to figure this out.
3. my cluster is calling for service (oil change). there is a sticker on the windshield saying its good for another 3000 miles, and "first filter"
i rather trust the cluster and change it now.
what do you guys think "first filter" means?
4. car is just over 51k miles. anyone know where i can find info on the service interval for this mileage (or close to it)

First be sure to use the search functoin as there is a ton of info already here on the board...
A good repair book ...like Bentley is worth every penny
Sites like www.realOEM.com are a great way to see how things fit together.
1. Yes you will think something is going to brake...
once you do it it will make sence on how it works.
Remove by prying on the front edge with a plastict prying tool and sliding the bezel forward.
If then removing the lens or S ... you will be able to see how they come apart.
2. mileage is in the ecu (it was in you S2000 as well) when reset corectly will display actual mileage.
3. Start fresh and forget the sticker ... use and reset the cluster info (more service and not reset doesnt hurt) The MINI is an intuitave service meter, the average for an oil change depending on how driven is about 10K miles. A good plan is to do it 5K after a reset service ...that way your chnges are about 5K apart and (other than some debate) 5K is fine for todays oils.
4. MINI uses a "oil service" and 2 inspection / maintance "groups" known as Inspection I (1) and Inspection II (2).
They rotate ...first 1 then 2 then back to 1 ....and on and on.
MINI can verify the service done by VIN (if done at a MINI dealer)...that may let you know where you are. Or to be 100% safe go and do a Inspection 2 and you will be good to go.
If you want the 1 and 2 Inspection info, PM or email me and I will be happy to get it to you.
Best of luck.

2. actually, on the s2000 the ecu doesn't hold the mileage that you see. it may hold the mileage that the ECU has seen, but the cluster stores its own numbers. replacing the cluster in an s2000 will result in the milage from the new cluster being displayed, not what the ecu has (if anything)
3. awesome, the s2000 was also intuitive. i regularly do 5k changes. anything less is silly IMO. i change my filter evey time also. are the cases/caps for the filter supposed to be changed?
4. i'm a bit confused on the 1/2. i pm'ed you though- i'd like to see what documentation you have before i start asking more questions.
