R50/53 Crunchy clutch pedal = bad throw out bearing
Crunchy clutch pedal = bad throw out bearing
brought my 06 MCS with 39k on the odometer to Crevier Mini in socal and was not impressed... they thought my clutch problem was a throwout bearing but were not convinced and were really steering me away from trying to fix it under warranty because it may not be the bearing and then i would have to pay for a $3500 clutch.
I brought it to Southbay Mini also in socal and they were much more helpful and interested in trying to make a happy customer. Gave me a 90% recommendation that it was the throwout bearing (have had some in the past) and were obviously interested in having a happy customer.
Long story short... they fixed it under warranty (was the throwout bearing) and even offered to install an aftermarket clutch at a substantial discount because the car was already apart. I didn;t take them up on the clutch offer because timing wasn't great $wise and I really believe I should be able to get 100k out of stock clutch.
Anyways, they gave me a bmw sedan loaner car for the two days and fixed my MCS and gave her a bath, adjusted my headlights because they were a little out of whack and sent me on my way.
I actually wanted to give Stacy, the service gal a hug, but held back.
Thank you Southbay Mini.

Were you able to examine the throwout bearing and guide sleeve that they removed? I complained about this exact same thing when my '04 MCS was at about 30K and my dealer ignored my complaint.
no, I didn't ask to see the parts... sure I could have though. The first dealer was totally ignoring my complaints as well but I have heard so many good things about the second dealer (South bay Mini- Torrance, CA ) that I thought I would try them as well. All the difference in the world! Anyway, she's all patched up and under warranty at that!
