Butterfinger wife/slurpee vs. my dash

So my wife buys my girls slurpees while in my car and tells them strictly, "You better not make a mess or spill in Dads' car!" Well of course she dumps one all down the front of my dash. She did a good job of cleaning it up but a lot of slurpee went into my dials and dash buttons so now they are super sticky or basically glued solid in the morning until everything heats up and the sugar gets loose. I've tried using a steamer to steam out all the goop but didn't work. My question is how can you take the face plate off where the switches and dials are to clean everything out, or is there some sort of spray like electrical cleaner that I could spray in and dissolve everything?

There is but I can't remember the name of it. Might get better response if you ask the question in Detailing 101. Good luck!

Distilled Water or Isopropyl Alcohol 90% is your friend here. Use a spray bottle and spray minimal amounts, wipe up the drippings right away. Dress with favorite dash cleaner/protection ASAP. Been there, done that...

OUCH - that sucks... a cautionary tale though. This is one of the primary reasons why I have a very strict rule about "no food and drink in the car". Only exceptions are bottled drinks with screw-on tops.

No food or drink messes yet!

+1 for IPA 90%. Where I work we use it to clean up laptops when people spill [insert beverage here] on them. Cleans up well and doesn't harm the electronics.

The alchohol sort of worked, I was using 99% I'll try again with a little water to dilute it. My AC button is still solid on cold mornings, which is alright I guess, since I wouldn't be using the AC on cold days anyways. Does anyone know if the Dials for the controls pull straight off?

Word to the wise, don't try to clean with electrical cleaner spray. Sprayed a bit on my AC button and melted the top right off the button! Guess that's why it says don't use on plastic on the can. Anybody know how to replace that button?
