The button to unlock my MINI doesnt work. The lock button works just fine and the lock/unlock button inside also works correctly. Could I have worn out the unlock button? I do have 80k and deliver pizzas with it so I constantly lock and unlock the car. Any suggestions? I got a quote from MINI for a new key and it was $168 and id rather not have to pay that much. Are there any other options for getting a new MINI key? Mines an 05 MCS

I have the same exact problem. I opened up my key remote to diagnose it and when I pressed the lock button a little red light lit up on the circuit board and the car locked. So I knew that was working fine. When I pressed the unlock button the red light did not come up and the car did not unlock so I kept trying and trying and finally it worked. Basically the button was not in enough contact with the board and the signal wasn't getting through. I haven't fixed it yet but I plan on cold soldering it so that the signal could get through.
