This is for a homework assignment and i cannot find this info on the web as of yet so i figured id ask all the mini people.
Again i need to know
1. What the materials cost are for a 2003 mini cooper
and
2. What the assembly cost is

I guess this is confidential information, so I don't think it is readily available in the internet on a 'Free' basis.

However, you can ask this question over at MINI2.COM as there are posters from the UK that might give you a ball park idea, but then again I make no promises.

Are you studying mechanical engineering?

Good luck finding that information. I was in the retail BMW business for 30 years and was never able to even come close to getting that kind of information. I got lots of estimates but the factory guards that information very well.

 

Yeah its for my intro to engineering class and yes i am studying mech engineering.
From what i can gather i believe my teacher wants us to call the dealerships or perhaps contact someone who can give me this info, but as you said its confidential so its going to be hard to get

I would go as far as to say impossible to get. Like I said, I was in the BMW business at the dealer level and tried to get it for 30 years. Even the factory reps don’t have that kind of information, I know because I asked lots of times with different people at different levels. Like I said, I only got estimates which were mainly their own personal opinions. It is information that is closely guarded at the highest levels of the manufacturing process.

I understand how for you it might seem hard to get as you have been in the buisness as you said. But while you were working there did you try looking on the web? I feel everything can be found in someway online and thats what im trying to do. I just feel its easier to just ask ppl that might know the straight answer and save me a hell of a lot of time.
