R50/53 paying too much????
thanks for dropping by...
i'm getting a new MINI this upcoming week.(i hope) but the dealer has given me an offer like this..
$26,000 for the car (msrp: $22,000)
$ 5,000 downpayment
$ 466 a month for 36 months
and to buy the car it's about $13,000 at the end of the lease.
i haven't seen any lease plans very similar to this before. the car is a Cooper S, with a sport package... does anybody think this this a bad lease plan???

The biggest problem I can see with the lease is the mileage limitation. If you are from so cal you will
exceed your mileage for certain. Then you have now choice but to refinance at the end or pay the milage fees. You have to decide if you wan this car forever or if it's a stop to somewhere else in the future. If you go to local credit union they're lending at about 10% currently depending on your credit rating. Here's the scenario: $21,000 financed at 10.5% int for 5 years your payment is $451.37 and the car is yours. If you want a three year period the payment goes to $682.55 but you still own the car at the end. No mileage problem etc.

That's HIWAY robbery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go to another state or dealer where they charge MSRP, buy the car for less than $26K, and drive it home on a little road trip. Heck, I'd join you if I weren't saving up for my own road trip!
Or maybe you can contact one of those owners who hate the car from that review listing at the thread below ...maybe they'll GIVE you the car

I'm in SLC and our local MINI dealer has a policy. No car over MSRP. Period. No question, no hassles, nothing. Now they may charge higher fees, but that will STILL be way below the 4,000 over MSRP that you are paying.
Of course they have a 14 month waiting list on the Cooper S.
I really need to get my 2 grand deposit in <grin>.
