R50/53 There are MINIs and Smarts everywhere in Geneva.
I'll post some photos when I get home.
Why don't I see HUGE f-ing SUVs anywhere but the USA?
I hate to be an America-basher, but MAN, we're idiots when it
comed to vehicles. (In my opinion)
There are so many nice small cars, 50 MPG diesels, motorbikes
and bicycles almost everywhere else I travel, but not in the US.

Because they dont really have the room and they have Mercedes and BMW and what not over there, not GMC and Ford...
But they do have lotsa smarts and MINIs, when I was over there about 3 years ago I saw my share of smarts, neat car, but would never own one.

Trippy,
I saw a few American SUVs in Zurich, along with Vette's and the odd Camaro or two and luxo barge Caddys. But Mini's were everywhere. I have a couple pic's of MINIs and Mini's cruising around Switzerland.

P.S. If you have the time, take the Golden Pass train from Geneva to Zurich via Interlaken and bring your camera with lots of film or a big memory card.

We have huge honking vehicles because our fuel is relatively cheap alright. But at what price? I will save a what might seem to be injecting politics. Let's just say there are high prices that we pay to keep prices so those guzzlers can keep guzzling.
Gads, I am a hypocrite because I own an old one. I sure feel like a better resident of this planet driving my Mini and to say it is more fun is quite the understatement. I may donate the SUV to the local high school and be done with it forever
Part On Garth!

Oh MAN, that looks beautiful!!
But I'm leaving Geneva at 18:00 so it would be dark (and the last GP train leaves at 13:30)
So I'll take the 3-hour dark-train, not the 6-hour beautiful-train.
Maybe next time. Thanks for the suggestion. Now I feel bad. :???:

>>Because they dont really have the room
They seem to have plenty of room in Geneva and Zurich. I think that
"Europe is too small for Hummers" is just not true.
>> and they have Mercedes and BMW and what not over there, not GMC and Ford...
Lots of Fords also, but they are all Fiesta-sized vehicles.
I think it's not lack of availability, but lack of demand. (Just what I think BTW)

S-California is huge and tries getting around on the motorbikes or bicycles.

I was in the BernerOberland in August and saw only a few Minis - did see a few vintage Minis - possibly just the area of the country. Mostly BMWs, Renaults, VWs and MBs. They also have a decent alternative transporation system whether it be the PostAuto or the railway which we lack. I think not only is it the cost of gasoline but it is also their attitude towards vehicles.
it is tooooooooo expensive to buy gas and pay taxes for a car in Switzerland. I was there for almost 4 years.
Most people preffer to rent a car than own a car!
Smart is seems a good car for a country like that. they use them in the airport a lot.
Love switzerland! Snowboarding everyweek when i was in school. a lot of parties and a lot of carzy people too!
Haha!
