My clock, after 5 years, now says AM/PM

My '04 MC has suddenly, after 5 years, started to display AM/PM up in the corner of the display. I am sure it never showed in the display before. Very interesting.

Your model year has the clock by the sunroof, right?

Just push and hold the two buttons for awhile.

24hr time for teh win.

That's kind of cool. Much neater than my similar story.

When we bought our first home in 1999, the previous owners left behind their refrigerator, and we used it since it was nicer than the one we had. But the water dispenser in the door never worked. We just figured it was never hooked up, but didn't really care. Until one day, after we'd lived in the house for over five years, the water dispenser starts dispensing water all over the kitchen floor. We were in the other room and heard the water hitting the floor, or else it could have easily ruined our kitchen.

Why it decided to go from "never worked" to "always dispensing" after 5+ years, I'll never know, but we got rid of it shortly afterward.

Just thought of another similar story. I had a full-sized closet in my college dorm room that I didn't know about for the first six months I lived there.

When I first moved in, there was a door on the wall between my room and the adjacent room. I tried to open it, and it wouldn't budge. I figured it was a connecting door in case the school ever wanted to turn the two rooms into a suite, and that it must be locked from the other side. So, I just ignored it.

About six months later, I tried the handle again on a whim, and the door swung open freely, revealing a closet. When I moved into the room, it was August in Austin, and the door had been swollen shut. When I tried it again, it was January, so the door wasn't stuck shut any longer.

The am/pm on my '05 is very small. My problem with the clock is that it's too fast.
Did the dealer upgrade your system software/firmware recently? Maybe that changed the display... random thought.

I too had a speedy clock. The dealer replaced it under warranty & time is once again on time.

That's really weird... I just this evening noticed that my clock had AM on it, which I never recall seeing before - And I wouldn't have set in to display AM in the PM, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't there.

Maybe the MINI-gods beamed us an upgrade?

+2. Mine gains about a minute per week - sometimes more, sometimes less. I've just re-set it routinely and live with it. Not enough of an issue for me to have the dealer dink with it and screw something else up.

I'm fortunate to have a very helpful & competent dealer here in town. I never worry about the quality of their work. MAG MINI does a great job.

I wonder if it's just another MINI adventure kit add-on, secretly programmed to come on after five years...
