Sold my MINI, looking to get another, need a VIN check

WMWRH33585TF85604

That's the VIN, does anyone here have the capability to run it?

I traded my 06 cooper in on a 350Z convertible last October and regret it and am trying to get back into a Mini and this one has my name all over it.

I appreciate any help that is offered!

I still have my 1967 Mini so it's not like I am no longer a Mini owner, I hope that still counts!

Welcome back!

Why you regret doing the switch? Dislikes of the 350Z?

As for the VIN, you can try either of these:

Call MINIUSA, 1-866-ASK-MINI and provide the VIN to the phone rep. Tell him or her that you are looking at purchasing this car from its current legal owner and would like to get more info on it.

You can call any MINI dealer service department and provide the VIN number. They should be able to pull the build sheet records and maintenance records of the car for you as these are stored in the central BMW database.

Go to www.carfax.com, pay $20 bucks and get a full history report of the vehicle online.

So what year and model are you currently looking at?

According to www.realoem.com this car is a 2005 MINI Cooper S Convertible with a build date of August 2005.

According to Carfax.com there are 9 records on the vehicle, but you have to pay to see the full report.

Hey thanks for the info!

I was not sure how that worked in obtaining the option and build date information as I ordered my 2006 Mini new. I was not aware that you could call Mini USA and get the information.

I really appreciate it, now I know when the warranty is up and knowing that there are some things showing on the Carfax I think I will ask if the dealer has a copy.

My Mini was the only car that I regret trading in. Not that the Z is not the coolest, it is beautiful, fast has all the goodies and the top comes off but the Mini was MY type of car, it reminded me of my classic which is always a blast to drive but not always able to be driven unlike the newer Mini.

I've owned a lot of neat vehicles in the past but never regretted selling any of them, how wierd!

Plus what am I to do with my diecast Mini collection if I don't have a newer Mini to go along with them? At this point I am just a poser!

Wow! great find.

So this 2005 R52 Cabrio started its life as a lease car, then it was returned to the dealer, sold at auction and ended up in a Lexus dealer used car lot.

Looks like the report is clean, so go for it!

PS: The miles are very low for a 2005 MINI. Looks like the original "owner" used the car mostly on the weekends.

It should still be under warranty as the in-service date was October 2005. Call MINIUSA and confirm the in-service date and see if the car still has the remaining of the factory warranty.

You should have warranty coverage until October 2009.

can't help you with the VIN, but I do know that "Vdubdoug" on here lives in Dayton and just sold his MINI. This one isn't his but maybe he'd go check it out for you. I'm in Cinci too, btw...

Well guess what I bought a Mini but not the one we were looking at, watch for photos I hope to get them up soon.

It's a 2006 S hardtop with 7000 miles, chilli red with white roof, union jack mirrors, license plate frame and valve stem covers

manual
grey leatherette with anthracite trim
cold weather package
rubber mats
premium and sport package
driving lights
rear and front fogs
sunroof
harmon kardon system
auto headlights and rain sensor windshield
Mini OEM alarm system
late 2006 build, October 13

I talked to the salesperson who sold the vehicle (all the documentation for the vehicle was with it even the sales person's card) and obtained a bunch of info. from him and the shop techs who all remember this Mini. Oh it helps that this particular sales person is a personal friend!

Anyways one owner vehicle, the vehicle has a CinciMinis sticker on the back so I think I might be able to track the guy down.

Here's the mods all installed by Cincinnati Mini
JCW carbon fiber wing
reduction pully (they said it had two?)
alta oil catch can
water sprayer for the intercooler
alta intake
alta brake pads (I thought that was an interesting upgrade)
shorty antenna
aero kit
alta headers and exhuast
OEM style boost gauge and volt meter pod
Mini windshield cover thingy
M-7 strut tower bar and camber plates so no worries about mushrooming
22mm sway bar
bonnet vent covers in red

and I saved from my Mini (I knew I would be back in a Mini again!) my bage holder and bages, glove box organizer, Mini car cover and of course the ever helpful map light

I haven't had the chance to really tear into it to see what else is in there, the tech guys remember the car dynoing around 200hp, they said that the guy who owned it was very particular about his Mini and as they know me and how I keep my vehicles they said it couldn't have went to a better home, which I thought was nice.

Now get ready, remember I bought this from a Chevy dealer, I paid $21,400 for the Mini, I think that the Minis gods were smiling on me. I was so happy I actually cried a little (I know embarrassing) and what makes it even more special is that my 30th b-day is tomorrow! I went 4 long months (yes that is how long I kept the Z) without a Mini and never again will that happen.

My classic also feels more at home with another Mini in the garage.

Sorry to babble I am so excited!
