Honeycomb grill opinions?

Hi everyone!
I've been considering adding a black honeycomb grill to Stella, and found a good deal on a top grill, but no "mid grill". As you can see, she already has the black lower grill, so I was wondering if you all thought this would look alright, or if you have pictures of having done this on your own MINI. My husband is going to paint my hoodscoop for me, so I'd love the honeycomb to round out the black look. Do you think it would work or would it look goofy to have that mid grill stay red?
Thanks in advance for your opinions!
Melissa

Try it out, you can always paint that middle grill black, or use vinyl.

If you get a black honeycomb top grill (I assume this is the aero kit grill), it has a black outer surround. Your mid grill will look odd with its chrome surround unless you completely black it out (even then you would have a mismatch in texture and style). I would get the matching mid grill.

An alternative is to skip the honeycomb and black out your grill slats, leaving the chrome surrounds. The simplest way is to apply black vinyl. Or you can paint, or replace with OEM black slat grills (the last is what I did; price was reasonable).

The mid grille will look strange if left red. However, if painted or covered with black vinyl tape, it looks sharp. I used the tape so that the mid-grille could be returned to stock if I ever wanted. This solution has held up well over the past 4 years.

I used electrical tape on my grill. It was meant to be temporary, but has held up amazingly well.

+1. The temporary fix turned out to be permanent.

Hi
I used black vinyl blackout tape from pep boys.
$7 a roll and it was wide enough...no splicing.
suppose elec tape works too.
