Fatherdeth thanks for the backup. Ok to clear things up i wasn't saying i didn't do it i admit it and the mini rocks and i kinda am proud of 93.

I didn't mean for this post to get like this or anyone to argue just wanted some advice from you more experienced drivers. Bottom line is its my first MOVING VIOLATION ticket i ever got to clear that up and also im gonna take the defensive driving course which would deduct my points to 2 instead of 4. After that im sure i can make a deal considering i never got a moving violation ticket before in my life. If the prosecutor wont do a good deal il take it to the judge.

And i just ordered my white viper stripes il get pictures up soon.

Oh, welcome to NAM, I will say I wouldn't mention speeding or driving aggressively here, but it’s too late for that. As you can see, there are a lot of "moms" posting here.

Haha yeah i realized that myself. If i was looking for all this criticism i would of told my parents i got the ticket but im taking care of it myself.

Paying fines is just part of living. When I was around 18/19, my dad asked me to go get him the Sunday paper. My brothers car was the last in line, so my dad said to just take it because no one wanted to move it out of the way including me! Guess what happened - I got a ticket for an expired inspection sticker. I tried explaining that it wasn't my car and that I didn't know it was expired. He could see that it wasn't mine from the owner receipt, but he just told me that ignorance is not an excuse for breaking the law. Bottom line, it was my responsibility to check the vehicle I drove for compliance with the law - I paid the fine. Was I pissed - yes! This won't be your last lesson, it never ends until your in a box six feet under! Let's not whine and argue, life is too short, just have respect for everyones safety including your own!

Take the course, although the one I took asked stupid questions like "What percentage of accidents involve alcohol?" I didn't see where it would help in defensive driving. Of course it was an online course, and it would have probably been better in a classroom environment. By the way, never incriminate yourself in here. Although it's a good thing to admit your mistakes, some people in here will undoubtly crucify you for it. Good luck.

I think it's probably a required court date instead that type of thing (from the sounds of it). I got pulled over once doing 35 in a "25 mph school zone" (it was 2 a.m. on a Friday night/Saturday morning, and was normally a 35 zone ). Anyway, because it was a "restricted" zone, I didn't actually get a fine. I got a mandatory court date.

PS - the judge found in my favor, thank God, but I still had to pay $110.16 for court fees.

Generally I don't post on threads like this, but this post reminded me of a post on Autoblog (the best!) about an Aussie bike rider who videotaped himself doing 190 kph through suburban streets. He posted it on YouTube and the Aussie cops downloaded it and slapped him with a speeding ticket !! Sorry, it just couldn't get better--and as an Aussie, I am not in the business of defending my stoopid countrymen.

Definitely do traffic school. I don't know about your state, but in KY if you go to traffic school, it doesn't get reported to your insurance as long as your record stays clear for a year. (Just fair warning... it'll be long and stupid.)

Also, they might wave some or all of the fines if you volunteer to do like 10 hours of community service or something.

I really think that if you try to fight on a technicality like that you might wind up coming off as arrogant and just pissing the judge off, but that's just my $0.02.

WOW! This thread was on page one at 11:00 AM today!

I think everyone is tearing this guy apart while lots of other Mini owners share their stories of being pulled over. There is even a whole thread devoted to being pulled over. Relax everyone.

I would recommend taking some kind of advanced driving courses. And not as an excuse to go fast.

NO ONE here can tell me that they would not be tempted to push it a bit on an empty five lane highway at 2AM. Now maybe 93mph is pushing it a bit to far, especially on roads you don't know.

Ok ok, I admit, I sped before but not 93 on 45. I got a ticket for 43 on 30 and then a 70 on 55. I couldn't appeal the 70 on 55 on a highway, but I sucked it in and paid it. I never bragged about it.

He asked me to think back to when I was 18...which wasn't very long ago.

+1

This is somewhat of a paradox: A thread on a performance car forum ragging all over a guy for speeding?? Just remind him to keep it safe.

+1 on attending an HPDE or Auto-X.
As for the ticket, I say, ALWAYS, FIGHT THE TICKET....ALWAYS!

Yes, always fight the ticket. Just don't get arrogant and be as polite as possible. Sometimes, the judge will go easy on you. True story. My dad recently got his first moving violation. He drives semi trucks for a Caterpillar dealer. One night around 3 a.m. he was coming down a ramp to get onto highway 81 coming back from a delivery (we're from Lynchburg, VA). He said it was raining and as he merged onto the highway, he saw the blue lights come up from behind. He pulled over and the cop asked him the usual b.s. question, "Do you know why I pulled you over?" my dad said he told the cop no. The cop then informed him he ran a stop sign and asked him if he saw it. my dad then tells him that with it raining, he was concerned with making sure when coming off the ramp, there was no traffic coming and that he was not used to having a stop sign down at the bottom of an off ramp. My dad told him that he's been driving for 50+ years and has never gotten a moving violation. The cop then says that he's writing him a ticket any way...blah, blah, blah. So, when the court date comes up, he tells the judge the story of how it was 3 a.m., raining, and how usually you are concerned with merging onto a highway, and not having a stop sign there. He also told the judge that in his 50+ years of driving, he's never had a moving violation, and that was not luck. To make a long story short, the judge already had a copy of his record and agreed that you don't go that long without getting a moving violation by luck, and also understood his predicament that night and pretty much in a nutshell said the cop was ignorant and the whole thing got dropped. I thought that was so awesome, but it pays to keep your composure, have your facts straight, and have a good attitude.

Court date for an out of state speeding ticket? That's an 8 hour drive for a speeding ticket. All I have to do is mail some money at most.

Sorry, I think you misunderstood...

I wasn't talking about your situation in Miss., I was talking about Dimi's ticket.

To the OP

I am from NY myself and found myself in a similar position. I also did not get the fine (dollar amount) on the ticket because the speed I was clocked at was significantly higher than the posted limit, I HAD to go to the court in NJ. I got myself a lawyer and had my ticket pled down to a reasonable dollar amount. No points were assessed on my license. My advice to you is to get a lawyer, or go to the court and plead to a lesser violation (from what I know, most of the DAs are willing to accept a lower plea).

Hope you get away with something your wallet can bear.
