It was retarded but like someone said everyone wanted to test their mini, and i thought i would at 2 in the morning wen not one passanger car was within 2 to 3 miles of me.

And i did get out of a ticket because of an officers handwriting before. Judges do look for a lot of mistakes that cops make sometimes, all judges arent mean a lot of times they are on your side.

One last thing he didn't write me at 93 because i was paying attention and saw him speeding up so slowed down before he got to my speed. Therefore a lower number which def saved me from jail time. Atleast i had one supporter here =\
So...if it was 5 lanes...dead in the middle of the night...zero cars...could I travel backwards on the highway? Could I do donuts and peel off? It doesn't justify the fact your speeding and breaking the law. Your local speed limit is 60...but your still going 93? And I don't think it makes a difference if the officer was hiding behind a 18 wheeler.

Auto Crossing, tracking and drag strips would run you less money and less hassle than a speeding ticket.

Yeah... A, B, & D don't matter. C might help or hurt (depending on your judge). Surely there were speed limit signs.

On another note... I don't think anyone here is saying that they're "perfect" drivers and "never" go over the speed limit or anything. They're probably just more careful about it, and would own up to it if they get a ticket.

Thanks itsminidrmer i had the ***** to do it and i got caught ok, so are you a cop and wana arrest me.

Im lucky i live in NY. In the NYDMV website it clearly states they do not transfer points on license from other states. Second in NJ one of the most important details on the ticket is the license plate number and considering the fact he messed that up by 2 letters is just enough to be dismissed

Im 18 and i just got a brand new car after driving a beat up car for 3 years, think back to that age and see what you were doing.

Im def gonna own up to it but fight it to get a lower sentence of cores. and A B C and D aren't for court fights there for here to show people that i wasent careless and an idiot im sure when most of you see an open empty road you push it, unless you have the patience to drive 45.

I don't have think back that long. I'm a 21 year old college student and had my license since I was 16. Got my MCS when I was 20. Drove a family 95 Camry Beater for 4 years. I know what it's like. I'm not saying I've never sped before, but 93 MPH is reckless for most people, even on a 60 MPH Limit. Not everyone takes precision driving or advance driving lessons. Frankly I don't think it takes any ***** to push up to 93 MPH. It only takes a foot. Especially since your 18, getting a speeding ticket this massive is only going to hurt you more at the end. And you just told everyone yourself, this isn't your first speeding ticket. Maybe if this one doesn't get appealed, you'd learn your lesson? I just didn't like the way you presented yourself going 93 with a jolly " ." What patience does it take to go 45 when you "thought" the limit was 60? You could have went 60 MPH or even 65 MPH which is far less than 93.

+1.

(From a 24 y/o grad student.)

Just be careful. I know what it's like, too. I've done my fair share of stupid driving when I was that age, so I understand what it's like. I think you just need to be aware that doing something like that isn't smiled upon.

(Edited - because I don't have a degree in English.)

Dimi,

Welcome to MINI ownership. Congrats on your fine choice of car.
However, I notice you're fairly young and impulsive like maybe I was at one time in history. I don't think anybody here is trying to flame you, but would rather give you advice to keep you motoring for a long time.

We all speed a bit, but advise against excessive and sometimes dangerous speed. Our MINIs are certainly capable of excessive speed, but that should be kept in a safe(r) environment, such as a track or autocross course. it doesn't cost that much and certainly hones your driving skill to be safer on public roads. Whether or not the road has other cars on it, even at the speed limit, I found it difficult to avoid a huge pothole and a dead raccoon this morning. At 20 miles over the speed limit, I could have damaged my suspension. There are things on the road you simply cannot see sometimes. Especially at night.

I wouldn't exactly brag about my highway speed. Our MINIs are so much fun, you don't have to be doing that kind of speed to enjoy them. But it is tempting to wind her up a bit isn't it? The engine is begging to be flogged. . However, there is a time and place for that, not public roads. You'll gain a lot of respect if you own up to your mistakes rather that fight to get away with it on a technicality.

Congratulations on your car. Let's see some pictures of it.

You live in NY and the ticket is from jersey? Don't do anything. The state of NJ are a bunch of morons. They will not come after you period. I won't say how I know, i just know.

If you do go to court yourself just pay the reduced. You can plea bargain with the ADA for a lower price ticket. You will NOT get points on your NY license from NJ and your insurance will not find out either.

A 3rd option is to get a local lawyer to represent you. It may be cheaper that way.

State and local governments do not really care about your safety. They want your money.

Doing the math and the conversion from MPH to KMH, That would have cost you 18 Demerit Points and over 600$ in ticket. They would have seized your vehicle on the spot and have your liscence suspended for a period of 30 days!

Just thank yourself you dont live in Montreal Canada

Dang!! you need to slow down just a wee bit... 93 in a 45.

I thought I was bad my first week I got caught by an undercover cop (no radar detector) and was doing 50 in a 35. I swore all I did was just a quick downshift to pass, but he said I got up to 50 ... oh well.

I wouldn't try challenging a ticket on a technicality like the plate being wrong, or just bad handing writing. At one time, yes that worked, but too many tickets have been thrown out because of it, meaning too much lost revenue, meaning no chance of it. If it was something major, like the wrong state, maybe, but anymore unless you can prove you did not do what the officer alleged you did, there is little hope of the ticket actually getting thrown out, best to do is hope for the reduction.

Oh, welcome to NAM, I will say I wouldn't mention speeding or driving aggressively here, but it’s too late for that. As you can see, there are a lot of "moms" posting here.

Motor on… and just don’t get caught .

Dimi, nothing else matters except you broke the law!! It's a speed limit not a speed guidline. Be mature and pay your fine.

Courts are not for fighting, but for determining the truth, by your own admission you have plead guilty - referring to your posts.

Oh, and please do post pics of your MINI and motor on safely!!

Uhhh, I think enough people told this person that already. We don't need any more "parental" types in this thread.

I'm surprised MichaelSF hasn't chimed in yet -- he usually eloquently reminds folks that talk about speeding and courts and whatnot: you need to remember that in this day and age, courts and lawyers don't live in a vaccuum. They are as computer-and-internet savvy as we are and the laws of evidence have changed to keep up with technology; that means your original post can be admitted as evidence against you.

Although I want to, I don't need to reiterate what everybody else has said. It's not like I haven't sped before, and it's not like I don't remember what it was like to have a new powerful car. But that driver's license should come with some responsibility, whether we like it or not; don't be "THAT guy!" Good luck with your argument.

There is one good thing that comes from this though..
The fact that your a N.Y. driver and got your ticket in Jersey is good since the points do not transfer from Jersey to New York....
Although if it was the other way around Jersey drivers don't have that benefit. If they get a ticket in New York the points do transfer between state........ I had a ticket that wasn't for speeding it was an improper lane change that gave points, also being a New York driver I ended up having to pay the ticket, (I did not win) and payed to reduce the points... although they would not be seen really unless I decided to change my drivers license over to N.J.

I must say the most annoying thing about the ticket was the amount of letters I had in the mail form lawyers that wanted to represent me for such a minor thing......PIA!!

Thanks for being the parental police! In many ways I'm glad I'm not one after reading some of the posts on this thread. There is no defense for breaking the law, there are just excuses and that is just not acceptible! If the OP wants to speed fine, just live with the consequences!

Well, actually, talking about "one good thing..." a friend of mine in NC got a speeding ticket and received the same bombardment of mail from lawyers. She was a non-profit Muscular Distrophy event coordinator and had been tasked the week before with putting on an event directed towards lawyers. She wasn't sure where she was going to start with an invitation list.....hehehehehehehehehhh...it was kind of like tearing up all your junk mail and mailing it back to the junk senders!

On my way home to Texas from Florida I was caught speeding by a Mississippi trooper. From the time I stopped the car on the side of the road to the ticket in my hand took literally 45 seconds. He didn't even tell me his name, He took my license and came back in 20 seconds with a ticket that has no fine on it. Have to call a number

no parental policing here......he got a ticket.
I was just posting something I found interesting about the point system between N.Y. and N.J.
