A 1st gen **** will not slide down far enough to lock on to a 2nd gen shift lever, so it will not stay on.
A 2nd gen **** will lock on to a 1st gen lever; but the anti-rotation pin inside the **** will not fit down into the slot at the top of the lever, and the **** will spin.

More website (or webmaster!) trouble.
I found a lady who is going to take over the managing of my site for me, but she can't get into the admin because of some weird way that the site was originally set up. (sorry; that's as technical as I get, about websites).
I can't get into it right now either; can't even check for existing orders.
My website guy is completely unresponsive, as usual.
Anybody got any clues for me, short of having an entirely new site made up??
I don't know beans about this stuff, and my website guy knows it; his current attitude must be his unique way of thanking me for my business.
How can I separate myself from this guy and start fresh??

PM sent to Doug to discuss the problem. The new person can't get in to the site because it is owned by the hosting service, which appears to be a single server owned by the web guy. One can't get in if he won't give you the id and password. You can, however, copy the site, stop paying him, and start over with a reliable provider fairly easily.
The site is currently managed by rich@bunglesolutions.net which sounds to me as if he is getting rich by bungling solutions, allright...

Unfortunately, I can't do that. The ***** are made specifically to fit only one generation, and they can't be taken apart and modified; sorry!

Sorry about that!
Blame the design engineers at MINI. The original shift levers were based on old Rover technology (or so I'm told), and used an old dimension for the shift **** fitting area.
The newer cars now use the same dimension that BMW has been using since the late 70's or so, which is roughly 3/8" longer.

Finally, a happy ending to the ongoing website saga!
The outfit that I found to take over my site is unbelievably responsive, competent, easy to deal with, etc etc.
I can't come up with enough superlatives to describe my extreme satisfaction with these folks; after months of being ignored by "the other guy", I'm actually able to get updates and changes done, and without having to pull anyone's teeth!
Example; I forwarded some change information and pictures this morning, expecting to hear back possibly sometime tomorrow.
Not only did I receive an immediate reply, the changes were made with minutes!
All these years, I've been thinking that I was the only person in the western hemisphere who takes care of his customers to that degree.
I'm feeling light as a feather; giddy as a schoolgirl!
