R50/53 Rear brake light and fog light question.
I have seen a lot of talk on the rear brake light mod to use the rear fog light light bulbs. I cannot find a picture of a car that shows the brake lights illuminated. Could someone post a picture of a Mini with the brake light mod illuminated and a picture of a Mini with the rear fogs on? Thanks
what you're asking for is the same thing. the rear brake light mod uses the rear fog lights, turning them into brake lights instead of fog lights...essentially.
Xanthus, if you have any probs message me, i've done mine and i'm just over the brigde(s) on SPB!

IMHO those lights are more useful set up as brake lights in everyday use rather than the fogs they were intended for. A friend did a very neat job wiring them when my MINI was a month old.
Nice picture!

I agree! So much so that I am working, OK I'm paying, a "pro" to customize my tails so that the top "fog" light works the same as the bottom bulb. When the light are on both top and bottom are alight and when I brake both the top and bottom will show break light intensity.
I don't need a lot of "fog" lights here in RENO, NV; but more TAIL lights and more BRAKE lights can be helpfull!

>>Why are you paying a "pro" to do the mod when it's so easy to do yourself?
Just dumb I guess.
I couldn' get the top bulb to come on at the same time as the bottom to give the addition tail light that I wanted. All the taillight mods that I have read about have ONLY added the top coming on when applying the brake.

Scooter, edlfry is changing the upper socket to a dual style filament socket which of course will also require a new bulb.

He wants to do the brake light mod AND a taillight mod, so that not only does the upper lights work as additional brake lights but as additional taillights as well.
I don't think anyone has done that yet. Hmm, interesting idea edlfry.
