R50/53 Angelenos will appreciate this!
Great fun!!
I'm a native Angeleno. I grew up in the 60's and 70's driving Chevy Chase, Angeles Crest, Mulholland, and a bunch of other great canyon roads here. What delights we have at our disposal.
My first car of "my own" was a '65 Karmann Ghia, tricked out, which was nominally fun. But three of my friends had Spitfires, which we often used to chase each other over those roads. Good stuff.
Keep up the motoring enthusiasm. Glad to see your GF is such a good sport, too. It matters a bunch.

Angeles Crest can be alot of fun. Since you're in Monrovia, if you ever get an itch for a quick taste of canyon fun without taking the time to go to Angeles Crest, head straight up Santa Anita to Chantree Flats. Avoid the weekends, but if you go M-F especially mid-morning, you won't find anybody on that road.
Nice! Might want to take down that tassel before it whacks you in the face! When I was at Pepperdine Univ., my "after-class" canyon roads were in Calabasas & Malibu. You should try Mulholland & Piuma
I don't think the tassel will hit me....I have to sit a long ways away being 6'2" and all driving a mini! lol I've done Mulholland but it seems that ALWAYS has traffic on it no matter what day or time of day. But I don't think I've done Piuma....where's that at? Thanks for the tip!

Tassels are just a lil' flare if anything else from my college days.
As for the mods.....well it was time to replace my coil anyways due to the dreaded 3rd electrode problem. And I found that the MDS was the same price as stock so I went with it. Like the HotWires cause I do get some better mileage out of them. But for what it's worth not a huge difference. I think that when it comes time to change things even if I would have gone back with stock it would have been an improvement, but the MSD was cheaper so thats what I went with. But now up to 39 mpg's on the highway! So can't complain about that. lol I'd say if you need to change out the coil give it a try, it is a slight improvment from stock overall....and the good news is for us Californians, it comes with the lil' CARB sticker now!
