RMW cam and GIAC??

Alright, I've now got pretty much every bolt on including full exhaust and intake and new plugs and a 15% pulley...

I just bought an RMW cam and I am looking into doing a GIAC tune. Does anyone know how well this cam/my car will respond to a GIAC? The only reason that I want to pass on a Jan tune is that it is terribly inconvenient for me to drive 6 hours and pay the same price as the GIAC AND have to pay for dyno time...

Don't do it. I had a GIAC tune done two years ago and the only thing I really noticed different was the higher redline. I got a JAN tune a year later and the difference is very noticable. For about the same price, it's worth the drive. Do you go to UF? I'm going up there in a few weeks to visit friends if you want to go for a ride let me know.

Yeah, I go to UF. I'm flying out of Orlando a week from today and leaving my car to have the cam done and possibly the tune. By that time I have to decide whether I will keep my Shark Injector tune (will IT work?), go to stock for a while until Jan comes to FL, or do the GIAC....any thoughts?

I would just get everything installed and see how it drives then when Jan is coming decide if you want the tune or not. Definitely get him to do it tho if you want a tune.

Currently GIAC does not have a tuning file to accommodate that cam. To maximize that setup you'll want a proper RMW tune. Before you install that cam talk to Jan at RMW, you might need to remove that shark injector until you get tuned...

Yeah, talked to Jan. GIAC guy in Orlando is installing my cam and flashing my ecu back to stock with the Shark Injector. I'm going to go with an RMW tune for sure. Its just impossible to find out when Jan will be close by cause I guess he doesnt even know his plans yet...

With Shark, 15%, AFe CAI, NGK plugs, OBX header, magnaflow racing cat, Invidia Ti exhaust my car got 166 WHP yesterday on the dyno. Once I get my cam and RMW tune in I think I may be able to expect around 185 WHP unless I get some bigger injectors before then...any thoughts on what to expect? The anticipation is killing me!

Depends on the dyno, of course... but that IS way, way low...

Around here, some guys get 200WHP just with 15% pulley, exhaust, intake and tune... header and cam should buy you even more...

Yeah, I was expecting a lot more as well but that is just what the guy told me it worked out to. (I left it in Orlando for the cam work while I flew out of town up to Virginia for the weekend) He said it was put on a dynojet machine.

What could possibly be a hang-up or problem here? The MINI WAS running the Shark Injector and that my be a problem...I'm not sure. The header did give me the seat of the pants feeling that I had a TON more torque when I got it last week and I could swear that I've got a decent amount of power but both dyno runs were exactly on top of one another on the graph. I dont recall the torque numbers but I believe around 145 ftlbs...kind of disappointing. What do you guys think?

Probably had something to do with it being about 90 degrees and 100% humidity...

The car's got just under 27,000 miles. I did get up to 181 hp and 158 ft lbs with the addition of the cam and a stock tune!
