None of the above. There are others I would select before those. I think probably I would have wound up in a Miata. However, when I test drove the MINI S, I fell in love and ordered one, for which I waited patiently for almost 11 months. I never shopped the Miata.

Easily, beyond a doubt, if there was no MINI Cooper ever remade, I was so down for this!! As it was, I was able to get more "bang for the buck" with R53 and, 28 months and 56K miles later, Maggie rocks!!!

Cheers!!

I'd rock the Mk5 GTI. It would have to be a certain option pack and definitely not have the 18" wheels. I test drove one before buying the Mini and liked it a lot... but not enough to change my mind.

What I liked: Seats, power, styling, brand loyalty, space

What I disliked: steering wheel, 18s, ride quality/shocks didn't seem to move at all (but then again the car had <10 miles on it so they might not have actually been un-stuck yet)

None of the above. They don't make the RX-7 anymore so I can't have another but I'll take 295ft lbs of torque at 3k with coilovers and sticky shoes on one of these.

None of the above. Those are all basically econo cars with some go-go. The Mini was my alternative to a two seat roadster, a stylish sports car with the added convienence of a hatchback. The Mini keeps getting grouped with those cars but it really defies classification except that it is.....well...a MINI! In a class of it's own. PS: And did I mention that it goes like.........in the twisties!

Honestly I only looked at a GTi because I was considering a MINI, if there hadn't been MINIs I probably would have gone to one of the cars I was looking at before, a Lancer Evolution IX, a used M3 or a used Porsche 993. I'm glad I had the sense to get something a little more practical.

The MCS is the only FWD car I'd ever buy, but I guess if they never made it I'd probably default to a Civic Si. I do like the GTI too, but never again will I own a Volkswagen group product after my 944 experience...

since I bought the MCS used (for daughter), alternatives considered comparable in price were Civc Si, RSX-S, R32. Cooper ahead on stye points.

GTI, but only because I've been a VW nut for the last twenty years or so. Bought, restored, resold something like 118 of 'em. Mostly air-cooled, but a few Rabbits and GTI's. And one or three buses.
I'm used to all their foibles and f-ups.

well, thank you guys for all the responses. if imma choose on those 3 cars i would get the civic type r or a mugen rr. unfortunately, we r not gonna get that here in the US, so here we r loving our own minis, a hot hatch that brings sport, luxury, quality and style.

I have owned two new GTi's, and loved them both. Gen I and III. The last one came with a 5 spd - Nice BBS Rims/Pirelli & Recaro Seats standard. That said: I would choose an VW R32. ( The GTi's quicker brother )

Civic si. The Civic is the only thing I test drove that even came close to being as fun as a MINI in the bends.

If i could only pick from those 3, i think i would take the renault clio sport cup. main reason being, in the area i am you don't see any! would be a different car for sure.
