I need some help

I have a '02 MCS and my "service engine soon" light came on the other day. The temp gauge would move up down but not higher than running temperature. The car would act weird in between 3 and 4 rpms. I ran a scan tool and three codes came up, P0119, P0119 PD, and P0125 PD. Can anyone help me out, please and thank you.

All those look like temp sensor codes. Does your scan tool allow you to read the actual water temps while running?

No, it is just a cheap little thing. Is there any other way to check?

did you check your gas cap to see if it's on correctly?
MINI's will turn the service engine light on if the gas cap isn't properly "connected"
give it a try.

...but that throws a specific code related to the fuel system, not temp codes as this one did.

OP- I'd clear the codes, then go on a drive and make a note of the specific condition that the code comes back. Was it at idle, on the highway, etc...?
Also check your coolant level and make sure thats up to snuff.
Do you know if your fan is working? Idle the car until the fan triggers and see if the CEL came back at the same time. I'm betting it's a temp sensor.

The P0119 means that the temp sensor is reporting a change of 9.75 degrees C within a 4 second period, This is not plausible. Check the wiring to the ECT sensor for abrasion of corrosion in the connector.

P0125 means that the car took too long to reach operating temperature, it knows this based on a model stored in memory. The model is compared to actual, when they are too far apart the code is set. There is also a TSB that calls for an ECU reflash to eliminate false P0125 codes.

The ECT sensor play a role in how the engine is fueled, also may prevent the car from going into closed loop, which over fuels the engine.
