I don't know about "best" but I'd look in Hemmings Motor News.

First, see Dion Jardine at http://djminis.com in Ocala

Second, check out Turky's at http://www.turkys.com/in Charleton SC

also look at M&S auto sales in Bradenton, M & S Autos Classic Cars
6024 15th Street East, Bradenton, FL 34203
(941) 756-6171

Third, look at Private sellers here: http://www.minimania.com/ClassDealers.cfm
also dealers, but I would avoid Monte Carlo Minis In NC & Bank Garage in the UK.

But before anything, learn all about classic Minis and what it is you actually want. There is a wide variety of models and values and a novice can get taken (caveat emptor). A good, reliable Mini should run $5,000-$7,500 in the US. Buy the best bodyshell you can find. The mechanics are easy & relatively cheap. ALL Minis have rust. Learn what to look for. Check out the classic mini webring for sites giving tons of info.

I'd be happy to talk classics with you. I've owned several and imported several from the UK. I'm in Seffner & work downtown Tampa.

I know that the guy that runs turkys has recently had a stroke and is selling his classics at discounted prices. There's one or 2 there that I am drooling over!

Theres a lot on ebay, but I'd only turn to ebay after I've looked at all those other places.

Another place is texasminis.com, not sure if thats the correct address but a search on google should come up with it

Go to Mini Mania and click over to the "Classic" side. The site has a "for sale" section. You could also join the forum and get any support you might need to aid your research.

there are also user classifieds on http://www.MiniCityLtd.com ... and they are one of the best places to get classic parts too!

I know several people from MOTR who have bought from the MINIGUY (see earlier link in thread). They highly recommend him. I have been thinking about looking there myself.

Also if you go to the MINI of the Rockies Newsletter, download the latest issue and they list a few of the classic MINI’s for sale across the U.S.

If you also want to research and know what to look for call the club president and he would be happy to help you learn what to look for and what is far or what is outrageous in price for cars and parts. Because you will need a part collection to along with your classic MINI.

Try http://www.Minimotors.com in Santa Rosa, CA (tel. 707-570-0511) and ask for Harvey
Harvey's not in every day but you can either get him through his phone or web site. They sell beautifully restored Minis and parts, and have hosted their second annual Mini/MINI ride and BBQ this Spring.
