Help me fix my seat.

I just bought an ''04 and the mechanism which makes the seat rise is broken. Unfortunately I am tall, and hitting the roof so it would be nice to be able to lower it. Its this guy if you dont know what I am talking about

Any help you can give me to fixing it would be great.

I've never heard of it breaking before. I'm not sure what the mechanism is like under there, but there might be a splined rod or key that sheared off at the handle. Just a guess.

Maybe you can remove the seat and look underneath at what is going on. Remember to disconnect the battery first so that your airbag light doesn't turn on.

From: Washington. No, the other one.
Mine did the same thing some time ago (but in the full down posistion) and I think I just muscled it until something 'popped' and it started working again.
It was a few years ago, and the memory is a little fuzzy, so I don't know how much good this will do you.

We could go back in time and trade seats since mine is all the way up.

Just a heads up, incase anyone else has to go through this. What ended up happening, is I went to a local upholstery shop. They said the ratchet mechanism was shot. After calling MC they said the mechanism was part of the seat frame and the whole thing needed to be replaced. The shop agreed to try to fix it. After tearing the seat appart, they find out that its the air spring thing was jammed. They took it out, and now the seat can go up but not back down.
