Questions about 2005 MC Options...

Hello, everyone~

I'm test driving a 2005 MC tomorrow (whooo hooo!) and have pulled the VIN info, but I have questions about a few of the options (can't seem to find anything using the search function here):

1. What is the Smokers Package? (A lighter?)

2. What is the Storage Compartment Package?

3. What does Hot Climate Version mean?

4. What does Lights Package mean?

That's all for now...hopefully by tomorrow at this time I'll be a MINI owner -- finally!

Thanks so much for your help.

Hello Nan, I am no "package" or any other kind of expert, but I would offer the following.
The standard packages I am aware of are Premium, Cold Weather, Convenience, and Sport. Others may just be play on words.

1. Quit smoking.
2. The Storage Comp package is likely the parcel shelf for the boot. Keeps things organized. Could also include the glove box organizer.
3. Hot Climate Package sounds like A/C. Maybe it has to do with a larger capacity radiator? I have never heard of this one either.
4. Lights package should be just the Xenon lights and perhaps the front and rear fog lights.

If you look at the switches mounted below the stereo, if all of them are present and stock looking, I would say it's front and rear fog lights.

The niceest thing about 2005 was the gear ratio change. The '05 is WAY quicker than the younger siblings! If this is your first.....you are in for a fun ride! Good luck with the buy.

Thanks

Thanks, Hockeyman~

I appreciate your help. I think I found out the Smokers Package includes an ashtray, too. (Hopefully the previous owner didn't smoke -- yuck -- because I don't.)

Yes, this will be my first MINI and I'm already losing sleep over it. I'm grabbing it tomorrow, if it all checks out. Can't wait! I'll report back and introduce her (fingers crossed).

2005 Cooper is a Classic!

Great choice of model and year!

You will be extremely pleased with the look, handling, and fun factor of the Cooper.

I've had mine for close to 4 years now and it is still as much fun as the first day I got her!

Get ready to find excuses to explore winding roads!

Jimmy Racoon!

Funny, I just found your Barn Tour pictures and loved them!

I saved a few and sent them off to my friend who's an architectural historian/barn guru...he loved them, too.

And, I think we'll have matching MINIs...I'm looking at a CR/W one!

Only a few more hours...

NanBug ...

I assume you're not located in the US because there's no packages with those names in this market.

Hi...

Yes, I'm located in the US and got the VIN info from CarterMD, on this message board.

Those names are listed on the VIN sheet as Order Options, right along with chrome-line exterior, anthracite roof lining, etc etc.

Weird.

Anyway, I'll find out for sure tomorrow during my test drive, I'm just getting ants in my pants waiting!

Thanks, everyone for your help and encouragement.

CR/W

Nice color choice...always a classic!

Glad you liked the barn tour pics. It was fun to do.

Exploring the geography around you takes on new meaning in a MINI!

Anthracite roof liner-great choice. Makes it cozy inside the cabin.

Lucky you got the chrome line exterior. I tried to add it after.

Too much hassle and not as good as original factory install.

Post some pics when you pick her up!
