Mine has been "Awaiting Transport" since August 29th (11days as of today). Is that a normal time frame for waiting to be put on the ship?
I'm obviously anxious and ready to motor.

You are going to need to really stretch your patience at this point. There is apparently no common denominator between cars when it comes to the various stages. My production date was Aug. 16, on time. It was loaded onto the Aida on Aug. 21 and unloaded in New York on Aug. 30. It then sat at the dock for a week and arrived at the VDC on Sept. 5. As of today, Sept. 9, I am waiting for a work order to be issued for the final inspection.........once it passes, it then needs to be scheduled for transport to the dealer. I'll update you on these events when they happen. Summary: it has been 24 days since production....I'd guess that it will get to the dealer in another 7-10 days....which would equal 31-34 days from production to delivery. I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but it's REALITY. On the Miniusa.com site my estimated delivery date says Sept. 4. HA!

Herby74,
I think you and I have the exact same dates. I am sure the people at 1-866-ASK-MINI are getting tired of hearing from me. I was hoping to get the car this week, but the end of next week seems much more likely.

waiting to meet my BRG MC, white roof/wheels, sport pkg, cold weather pkg

I really feel for you guys in the US and Canada..

I couldn't bear knowing that my car had arrived in country, only to have to wait for goodness knows how long to get the beauty delivered to me.

I put a deposit down in June 2001 and the wait has been hell! My production date is THIS WEEK (w/c 9th)!

Here in the UK.. This is the sad bit for you over the Atlantic.. my dealer takes delivery on the 16th for collection by me on the 20th (I've only had 3 delays in production!).

The wait is finally over!

sdbillings.........
My dealer told me to expect to see the car about 10 days after arrival at the
VDC and that was when things were starting to get jammed up. I have heard that
they are in much better shape now. If we add ten days to Sept. 5 it brings us to Sept. 15 which is a Sunday....no deliveries. Let's focus our meditation on Sept. 16 and feel very fortunate if it's before that. Best of luck!

Hello all, I am new to this site. My MINI was also on the AIDA and is at the VDC since 8/31. She now has a work order and should be moving along momentarily...so they say!
Sackman, we don't have it so bad here in the US. I ordered my MINI on 7/9 and she was built on 8/16. So not such a bad wait for being half the world away!

I just got my work order entered at the VPC today. With a little luck, I will be bidding adieu to my 93 Geo Metro and start motoring in MINI.

Today, after six days at the VDC my work order was issued for inspection....I quote
the phone rep...."We should have you out of here in a day or two". Can anyone
tell me if there is any truth to this statement?

>>I doubt there is any truth to that statement. My car has been there since 8/31. The work order was printed up 9/8 and my car still is sitting there no closer to being finished. The people at MINI said I should see progress by NEXT week! What is up with that????? My car has been done for almost a month and still no MINI for me!

Where is your car headed to Minigirl? I'm wondering if they wait until they have a certain number of cars going to the same area or dealer before they put them on the carrier and head out. I know that docdesi is going through the same dealer in suburban Philly as me. Hey, sdbillings or docdesi.....have you heard anything else since you received a work order?

My car is coming to Minneapolis MN. I actually just this moment got off the phone with ASK MINI and as of this afternoon my MINI has been released to carrier. Now it goes and waits in a new line, this time for a truck! Remind me to never order a car again. I am too much an "instant gratification" girl to handle this waiting very gracefully!

Hey minigirl...im sorry to hear you are in the same predicament as the rest of us..i have been bugging MiniUSA twice daily now to find out when my work order (printed more then 3 days ago) will be acted upon..when i ask the people answering at 1866ASKMINI..they all keep telling me "It should be another day or so, maybe it was even done and our system is waiting to be updated), I have heard the same story since this past Monday....but still no car.......hey..another question...anybody have any quotes on insurance for the car..i was quoted by my Allstate rep that the insurance for the MiniCooper would be more then my current Chrysler Sebring Convertible (MORE then a convertible)..something not right there....keep motoring

The thing that really chaps my *** it the fact that I know more about where my mini is than miniusa or the dealer. They all think my car is still sitting on the dock in SOUTHAMPTON. I took it upon myself to do some research using the faq's on the Mini2 site and found that the my car has been at sea since the 3rd and will be in CHARLESTON on the 16th.

I'm just ready to motor damn't

Herby74 - it looks like you and I are on the same time schedule. My production date was 8/16, arrived at dock 8/31...est. delivery date 9/5 and as of today they told me at 1-866-ASK-MINI that my MINI was released to the carrier today and it should probably be at the dealer by the end of the week.

I was released to the carrier today (Friday) and will be trucking into Philly tomorrow. It will be 29 days since my production date of August 16. It can't be prepped until after the weekend, so I'll be driving it away either Mon. or Tues. However, the dealer said I could get into it tomorrow, turn on the ignition and listen to her purrrrrrrrr! Just getting to meet my Mini is good enough for now. Good luck, fellow motorers!

I was also released to the carrier on Friday. However, I was told that put me in line to get on a truck, not that my MINI was actually loaded on a carrier. Not trying to strip your buzz or anything..... I hope I was misinformed. At any rate, i will have my MINI soon and that is what I am looking forward to.

Hey! My production date was Aug 16, but then I was told it was moved UP to Aug 14th, my baby is being shipped to CA so that takes an extra few steps since she has to chug through the Panama Canal. Tentative dock date was Sept 16th, but when I called the dealer, he said it could have been yesterday Sept 14th.

Needless to say, I'm going to call them twice a day every day this week

Well, actually, i'm sure it was due to the allocations... so they did get theirs first. Not a darn thing the dealer can do about it.

And Re:Tracking... MINI seems to loose track of the car once it leaves the factory. Although it' s easy for you to look up the information based upon 3rd party sources, could you imagine MINI doing the same thing for the thousands of cars the ship all over the world? Just chill...
