I am glad they were paying attention... (at MTTS)

So, I won an award at Mini takes the states, LA. The "on the road again" award for most mileage on a Mini. (sure, i am on my second engine, but dont get me started...)

Anyway, after getting the trophy, they collected my name, address, phone number, and email, because they said they were going to mail me some extra prize.

Great. I thought. Until the UPS man came today.

I am the proud winner of an R56 Sirius radio retrofit kit. (list price 599)

Only problem is,
1: I already pulled out my factory sirius radio, (that I paid 900 plus install for) and replaced it with an aftermaket one when upgraded my stereo.

2: My car is an R53.

Did they really think that the winner of most mileage would be a car that couldn't be more that 18 months old?

I sent them an email. But I doubt I will hear anything back.

Yeah. Just what I need. a "prize" that requires me to advertise, pack and ship, so its not just another box of useless junk.

The buyers pays the shipping. Considering it was free, and worth a few hundred, seems like easy money to me for very little effort.

Ok.. I will sell it to you for 250.. and you can try to make some profit on it..

LOL...

All I am saying.. if it was my company, I would take the time to make sure the prize is appropriate.

BMW N/A is probably just re-gifting something to me anyway.. LOL

Thanks, but I prefer my iPod.
Companies donate the prize items, and you get what you get. I mean, it's free.

you have 101k on a car that's 18 months old?!?!?!? How the hell do you even do that? You've probably spent more money on gas a month then your car payment!! Where did you go. Do you get bored and drive across country? I'm very curious. I can understand someone doing like 30 or 40k a year if you commute far to work but that's like 70k a year!! unreal

Read the original post again. His car is older... the thing he won only fits cars 18months old or newer... it was sarcasm.

So most miles on a car that showed @ MTTS. 101k should be nothing remarkable for mileage on a 04 or older MINI nowadays. And I can completely understand your sentiment, love my MINI, can't recommend the company or say I'd ever get another since the BMW takeover. (I'd still consider a classic for the weekends though.....)

Amen! It was kind of a stupid prize anyway.. It was mini owner nominated..

and I nominated myself!

I am sure there are higher mileage cars out there.. probably even at MTTS. But its all about how they picked the winner..

Um...how in the world would MINIUSA possibly know that you removed the factory sirius radio from your R53?

Pay it forward...

If your local club does charity events...prizes are ALWAYS hard to come by, so DONATE your prize so that raffle tickets can be sold with the proceeds generating monies to the charity.

If your local club DOESN'T do charity events, find a club that hosts charitable events and donate it to that club.

It's still the an r56 kit, and I have an r53....I agree, they wouldnt know I removed it. They probably wouldnt know that I Had put the factory one in, in the first place.

Everyone is just too happy here. I just wanted to vent a little, and everyone just is too excited, like MINIusa does no wrong.

If I dont have and email back from them by next week, I will sell it, or take it to the next meet i go to.

Maybe Drew's Mo-tard needs one......but he needs tires first..

The only other possible gripe, is winning something that requires you to pay a subscription to use it. Im not complaining about that, Like I said I have been a happy sirius subscriber since 2006.
