Is it safe?

Yesterday I replaced my brake pads, but when I was finishing the last wheel(front right) I forgot to put the little metal clip back on the brake pad! Right after finishing I left for college. I'm about 2 hours away from home. I do not drive much here but my question is: is it safe/ok to drive without the clip until the next time I go home? I feel dumb about forgetting this but I was in a hurry and mistake happen. Any advice?

Over in VW/Audi circles we call that the "Jesus clip"... because if you leave it off, you will be meeting Jesus in a big hurry.

Call your nearest dealer and have them Next-Day-Air you the clip. Should only be a few dollars. Until then, take the bus.

I still have the clip but its at home about a 2 hour drive away. I could get my brother to send it to me but the only jack i have is the one that came with the mini. I'm not going to lie that jack is just scary.

Is there is Wallmart, Autozone or Napa near by? if so... I would get a new jack. That clip is what hold your Brake pad in place, so it doesn't slip out when you're braking.

With out it BillzCat said...

If it's this clip

Relax, the pads are not going to fall out and the MINI is safe to drive. The pad may make noise, or wear uneven, but not fall out. Look at the design of the system. Just have someone send you yours in the mail and use the stock jack with a jack STAND to remove wheel and install the clip.

Gotta agree with AutoXCooper on this. Its actually called an "Anti-Rattle Clip". Helps keep things tight so they don't rattle.

Yeah that is the clip, I'm having my brother send it to my tomorrow. I'm not driving much at all so no problems.
