How rare is this Mini?

Found this one when searching for mine. I already bought one, but this one is still available. I saw tons of Minis in the web, but so far I've only seen 3 (counting this one) with the red inside door panels and inside quarter panels. Looks awesome! Haven't seen an "S" one with this rare interior yet. Here's the link:

The chromed "holeys" are an interesting touch as well. Were those wheels ever available in chrome from the factory? I've only ever seen them in silver or white.

Oh, and $16,600 for a 2003 Cooper with 60k miles?

Its rare!

Wow!! I thought I'd never see the Tarten Red interior again! This interior was only offered in '03 and '04. I ordered my first R50 Cooper with the Tarten interior from Classic MINI in Mentor Ohio and it was only 1 of 2 Coopers they delivered with this interior. BTW, it was not offered on the Cooper S for any model year. I mean, the "justacooper" people had to be able to boast about something after all. Good luck on your hunt. Cheers! (read my signature regarding both my MINI's)

Red interior, huh? Seems rather tacky. The chrome rims don't help much in that regard.

Heck, if the early "justacooper" owners need something to boast about, they only need to say two words:

"Silk Green"

re: tartan red int

This was also offered in 06 as I almost ordered it on mine but happily went with the space grey cloth and red dash instead.

MC Silk Green buyers could opt for the "Emerald Green" leather interior with green seats, green door panels and rear seat trim. It was a $1,200 option. However if you opted for the Emerald Green leather seats, you could not get the sports seats as it was offered only on the standard seats.

Silk Green metallic was offered in the 2002 model year and was quickly discontinued in February 2003. There are a handful of 2003 Silk Green MCs built between September 2002 and February 2003.

One of the rarest colors, closely followed by the now defunct also only MC color, Velvet Red metallic (Which was discontinued at the end of the 2003 year production in August 2003).

That interior package was also available on the 2004 40 year anniversary edition MCS (aka the "MC40")

I would have to agree. Though the interior might be something desirable to some, I can't imagine that it's worth that much of a mark-up. Having said it is actually near the Blue Book value for the Raleigh/Durham area.

It is actually somewhat different than the MC40. What makes this Mini rarer is the fact that the door panels/rear interior quarters are also red(which in the MC40 are "panther black"). This dealer also has an '05 MCS with red/black two-tone leather sport seats, but with black door panels.

I saw a rare option this morning on a MINI for sale up at Moritz MINI.....black bumper strips on a PS/B R50 Cooper. That's something you don't see every day!!!

In 2002 there was a post on minicooperonline(MAM) by someonne that claimed to have ordered a yellow MINI with tartan red interior and they said the dealer required a big down payment because of the strange combination.
I would have ordered the tartan red if I could have got the seats with out the red door panels I think the seats would have looked good with black door panels

AFAIK you could have ordered the red seats without the red panels, I've seen several of these for sale, even in the "S" version with leather red/black sport seats and blue/black sport seats.

I ordered mine in April 02 and was not offered the option of red seats w black panels. Red w black was not on the MINIUSA web sight at the time. Maybe the dealer could hahe ordered it with the right clik of the order .

The interesting thing is that the all-red interior ones I've seen, last an average of TWO DAYS at the lots, later on... they're already sold....
