Do I need a new clutch? :(

I apologize if this was covered elsewhere, but I could only find info on clutch upgrades.

Here are my symptoms:

Shifting is generaly smooth, except when shifting during higher rev's (seems to be around 4k), 3-4th gear. I get the "grind" or old school throw out bearing noise.

Also, a problem with Reverse. Quite often it won't go into reverse at all until I idle and shift between 3-4th, neutral, then it will release into reverse.

Do I need a new clutch or something else? How much time can I let this continue?
Suggections? I'm at 83k miles.

If it where the actual clutch plates it would probably be slipping and not causing the mishifting you speak of. This sounds like a throwout bearing issue which isnt super uncommon.

Thats my guess at least.

Thanks! Does the throwout bearing cause the grind as well as the inability to shift into reverse?
