Multi-function steering wheel

More questions:

If I get a used multi-function steering wheel(with audio/cruise control). Can I it get it to work in my '05 MCS just by "plugging" it, or do I need to get it to the dealer and redo the whole thing besides the airbag?

Thanks

Hmmm...Im not sure...but I would definitely get it, especially if you have a stick. I don't know what I'd do without it.

At least for the cruise functions, you're going to need more than just the steering wheel (there's a recent post by Dr. O on the subject) -- not sure about audio.

Wouldn't this be something the MINI dealer would have to program?

Unfortunately you cannot just plug it in as far as I know. I wanted to do this desperately on my 2006, The later version cars allow for a plug and play, I think ours is more involved. i have seen a kit available that just replaces the silver plates on a standard wheel with the MFSW ones and comes with a wiring harness but I am still not convinced it is plug and play, If you find out otherwise I would love to know. peter
