what's a "windsor rice boy"? a rare breed of rice boy... though becoming more common... hard to drive anywhere and not see unpainted body kits or hondas "throwing revs" even in a parking lot stopping for coffee... recall this part of ontario and of course michigan has long been associated with domestic iron and domestic muscle cars and hot rods (and i love those too!)... but rice knows no bounds and knows no respect.

I'd be pissed if someone stole my free antenna foam thingy that I got from my Mini gift package.

I had my shorty ripped out along with part of the base. I was in a Kroger
parking lot where a bunch of young thugs were milling around. They left it on the ground and took off. Changing out the base is a BIG PITA if you have large hands. I like Gromits idea about the base ball bat. I don't think I would wash off the blood!!

Do these shorty antenna's help with reception, or are they worse? I wouldnt buy one for looks, but if it helped with reception I might, but I am doubting it would help.
At best, you'll get the same reception -- despite different claims by vendors, I don't think anyone gets better reception with a shorty.

From my experience, whether or not you have an antenna makes no difference on the reception. I went a few days without one and was forced to listen to the radio but it sounded just fine.

That's lame. I hope mine doesn't get broken off since I've got the threads lock tite'd onto my car. Too bad they didn't design to have the antenna be a part of the back windshield (ala BMW), but the mini probably wouldn't have the "mini flare" without an antenna up top.

I just got my 4" Alta Stubby, and I hesitated to buy it because I was afraid it would get ripped off. I know it's not a lot of money, but it just bugs the
*&(^% out of me that some people are so mean. (All apologies to the low-flying pigeons .)

BTW, with the stubby, I've had no change in reception with FM, factory NAV, or factory Sirius.

I've never heard anyone say it helps reception. I think it's for looks, but I like the looks of my remote control car antenna.

I use my XM radio much more than any FM station - about 99 times to 1 ratio per year. The AM reception is okay.
Strangely enough I actually like the "long" antenna look on my MCS. To each his own I suppose. ;-)
