With the right tires, MINI's can perform wonderfully in both. The only real issues with snow is ground clearance. Obviously it is only FWD as well, so there may be problems with snow covered hills and such, but you would experience the same with any other FWD car.

Last winter my dad forced me to drive his '99 Jeep Cherokee to work one night because of the snow and ice and it was scary sliding around turns and such in 4WD and attempting to brake. The same conditions in my MINI were laughable. No sliding and no problems braking. Needless to say, I refused to take it again the next night. They can perform a lot better than most people think!

I daily drive mine no matter what the weather. I do put 4 snow tires on & have had zero problems driving in the snow & ice of winter. One must drive to the conditions though. Snow tires are not a substitute for good driving habits. You'll have no trouble with rain either.

Welcome to NAM will05s.

With Blizzaks in the winter I have no issues with snow and with Falken ZE912s in the summer there is no hydroplaning.

What kind of combination rim and size do you use, and cost? Not sure if I will buy snows or just buy a winter beater car. Winter parking out front of my apartment is not great, cleanup stinks, and ground clearance becomes an issue. I was kind of spoiled the last two winters with my leased 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited w/HEMI, that thing was the king of bad weather driving, the 4x4 system in that thing is unequaled(Just amazing).

I bought the Blizzaks and 4 fairly decent looking wheels (15") from Tirerack for a hair under $600.00, shipped. I run 17" wheels in the summer.

What was the tire size for that rim? Do you have the details on the size for the tire and rim? I would rather look at something that works than to guess at it...
