Hello fellow MINI owners. I love this car. I can't believe I'm getting between 40-50 mpg HWY and 30-35 city. People are buying the Prius but not looking at the MINI. Good for us. The car does squeek a lot though but for transporting myself and two kids its great. I have found the smallest parking spaces and zipped in them with out a worry. What a great car. Has any one installed a roof rack with a basket for storage form Thule?

A roof rack can kill your mileage.

If your name is an indication that you have an 05 MCS and you're getting that kind of mileage -- you ain't drivin' it right (or you're always driving downhill )

The best I did was a 176 mile highway trip from NY to MA when i bought it, at 34mpg. Best I have seen lately is 30mpg, and really short drives all week about 23mpg. 23mpg is better than the 13mpg in my 04 GTO and 15mpg in my 06 Jeep HEMI.

Yeah i would say that gas milage is off pretty bad, but yes they do get some good gas milage, but no, not 40-50 on highway, more like 30-35 at best what i have seen, thinking you are on the highway and doing 70 or more. But if you really are, you should sell your mini for 40,000 dollars cuz thats what its worth!

I live in Albuquerque, NM. depending on which direction you are headed, you are going down hill. I usually get up to speed and put it in N. Usually I drive with CC on in the city and on the HWY. It dosent sound like fun, but I have driven all week andn have consumed 1/4 tank of gas. Thats fun........

Have you calculated your milage using a whole tank of gas? If you are just going by the gas gauge that says you have only used a 1/4 tank of gas you will be in for a suprise when you get to half a tank. The needle will drop like a rock! It has to do with how the gas tank is shaped. I get around 220 miles when I get to half a tank and I get about 340 miles per tank. I have a MCS.
