just a thought fellow motor people. I am sure there must be quite a few mini drivers in the windsor detroit area and i think we should hold an impromputue car drive and show on a sunday afternoon sometime. Just meet up near the bridge, maybe a cruise through the city ( and a tim hortons stop of course! ) the end up in the parking lot of the old hiram walker mansion for some cool pictures or something like that. Anyone interested let me know and maybe we can put something together

Oh I'm sure a few people (maybe me, too) would come over or at least meet you on the US side. A lot of people are already planning to cross the border for MGLCIII in Sept so they should have their passports ready.

 

that sounds cool!! please keep up updated as to the MGLCIII ( whatever that is?) and by the way...still no passport needed. i cross every day and havnt been asked yet

 

I'm not going (not enough $$$) but the organizers are just cautioning everyone to be prepared to cross the border, don't want to have to leave anyone behind. I hear it's a REALLY good time, as The Moos do an excellent job planning and the company is, as always, good as well.

Hey guys, I've been wanting to put together a Windsor group for a while. I will be doing my 3rd Annual Run For The Border Tour in late summer with MMMC as well as MGLCIII (go to www.michiganmini.org for details). In the meantime, another MINI friend and I usually meet for coffee every Sunday morning at Starbucks/Chapters around 10Am. Please come on out and join us.

 

I was just in Dearborn, Detroit, and Windsor last week! Sadly, I didn't see a single MINI from Sunday to Thursday. Maybe because we were based at Henry Ford's Dearborn Inn and spent lots of time at Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford (Museum and archives). While, impressive the Rouge factory was sad and quiet. Guess no one wants those F150s these days.

We toured Detroit and crossed into Windsor to visit an Underground Railroad monument and church founded by runaway slaves.

Windsor seemed nice. I'm glad to hear there's a MINI community up in Michigan and across the border.

 

It's too bad you didn't connect with any of us. We had a couple of fun events last week that you could have joined. I was in your fair city last year and loved it, especially the Riverwalk. Be sure to log onto MMMC next time you are in the area. We will show you a good time!

 

Thanks. I didn't have too much free time as I was with a group of teachers at an NCHE history colloquium. Our itinerary was pretty full, and interesting. I plan on bringing my family up someday (mega MINI road trip). Let me know if any of y'all make it down here anytime.

Have you checked out the Michigan MINI club yet? Some great folks and it is a very active group. It's great for me as I work in Farmington Hills as well. Tons of events coming up this summer and fall.

Hi again Andrew and BigDaddy (and other Windsor/Detroit folk)! Definitely a good idea to meet up with BigDaddy at Starbucks on a Sunday. BigDaddy remember we had planned this but it is tough given my time split between Windsor and Ottawa these days.

But I'll be back in late July and that should work better than this past weekend as it won't be a holiday weekend. Looking forward to it! If you guys meet in the interim, snap a couple of pics and post them to get the rest of the MINI-owning denizens of Windsor inspired!

woohoo vacation time this week!! gonna be driving around and working on herman all week staring today ( a day early!!) hope to see a lot of mini drivers out enjoy the car in windsor!!

Herman is back together and motoring around windsor!! to bad it has been so darned hot so not polish/wax job but lots of others done. Have seen quite a few good looking minis' in windsor this week including a very nice red classic the other day. Looking forward to seeing more of you out there.
